Slow motion knuckleball. Count how many times it rotates:
In mergers and acquisitions news:
-
Fanatics–which has been one of MLB’s two merchandising partners–has bought Topps for $500M. This one was pretty foreseeable since last summer when Fanatics managed to steal away Topps’ exclusive license with MLB to do trading cards.
-
The NYT is buying The Athletic for $550M.
How could The Athletic possibly be worth that much?
They have over 1 million subscribers, and an annual revenue of close to $100MM, I believe. And $550MM ain’t what it used to be.
No idea their revenue was that big. Just not paying attention I guess.
They’re still losing money, from what I read earlier in the year, but they have a substantial product. And they’re right up the NYT’s alley.
I didn’t renew my subscription.
I just didn’t use it enough to justify it.
It’s a sensible fit from the perspective that NYT didn’t have shit for sports coverage.
And The Athletic has had Yankee balls on their chin since day one.
Win win.
Glad that nonsense is out of the way…
They could have been the Caraydiens.
When they move they’ll be the Ex-Rays

That’s a great video. The comments below are inane.
Welcome to modern America.
He buckled that one kid’s knees…
Great video. I’ve watched so many modern Pitching Ninja-style slow-mo pitch analysis videos that I was kind of caught off-guard seeing that same technique in such an old video.
I could not get farther than the first 5-6. What appalling stupidity.
