World Series

I posted that explanation last night.

Opposite for me. I’m seeing Bonnie Raitt tonight so the rainout helped me out.

Excellent. Who’s on the bill with her? We saw her and James Taylor just before the pandemic, and that was a really enjoyable show. Taylor did an extended version of “Mexico” with horns that was fantastic.

You saw Taylor, and you saw Raitt?

Did you see them on a sunny day you thought would never end?

Nice card there. Silver Thunderbird is my favorite Cohn song.

Sold. Now i know what’s on the menu tomorrow

My brother said he fell asleep around the 7th inning of the last two games. I told him there was no point in hanging in there for the ending of game 6 either!

Ate another Philly cheesesteak for lunch today. I may not survive to tomorrow night.

I think we are all going to need some kind of post season work out schedule.

Right. Just in time for Thanksgiving and Christmas and New Year’s.

So, I stumbled on this on Twitter earlier (Ian Happ talking glowingly about Pat Hoberg): https://twitter.com/thecompoundpod/status/1588575340577931265

And it led me to the whole podcast episode, which is an absolutely fascinating deep dive in to Pressly throwing his change up then the Hoberg chat. Highly recommend if you’ve got 30 minutes to spare:

Downtown is going to be packed this weekend. In addition to the World Series, the quilt festival is in town at the GRB. 50k quilt, uh, fans?

(in all seriousness, I went to the quilt festival once, and it was pretty amazing. Truly skillful artists.)

My wife is an avid quilter and often attends that show, although not this year. Her friends sent her some photos, and the best-of-show is ridiculous. At first glance, it seems nice but not terribly remarkable. It’s only when you get up close and realize that there’s another level of detail that you appreciate what’s going on. 226,000 separate pieces of fabric. I’ll see if I can find some public links.

I come from a family of quilters. They used to only use patches from dresses, etc. that they made for us. But, now they are willing to buy material for the patters.

But there was always something fun about having a quilt and saying, this was my dress and or so and sos.

Plus, when a quilt was hung at my grandma’s (she had it hanging from hooks on the ceiling. We could play under it and listen to them gossip. Good memories.

Quite the tapestry of events going on downtown.

Winners never quilt and quilters never win. Everyone knows that.

Finally a reason for @NeilT to join us downtown!
