World Series

Oh, gotcha. Didn’t know that was the particular media idiocy being discussed.

I’d like to report a dead body:

There was a thread Thursday discussing it.

I had a nightmare:

We had a multirun lead in the 9th (it may have been extras) and they get a rally going and cut it to a run with 1 out.

Runners on the corners with Brown called in to pitch.

Then a huge rain/wind storm chases all the players in.

So now there’s a delay of who knows how long and we may have burned all our pitching and who knows how he’ll pitch especially after a delay.

That’s when I woke up.

I had to reassure myself that we won last night.

It was sweet reassurance to be sure.

This Astros baseball is wearing me down. First, too much/many beers because of my lucky beers superstition with HH and Mark. Next, the excitement and tenseness make sleep impossible at first. I stay up too late watching postgame stuff, then lay in bed replaying the game in my head or watching highlights on my phone. Finally, I wake up far too early and am still excited about the game when I do. I get up much too early for coffee and more highlights. Afternoon naps, here I come.

When the WS is over, I hope to do two things: dry out for several days (or join an AA chapter) and catch up on my sleep. Here’s hoping I’ll be celebrating a WS Championship during my efforts to recover.

We all just make sacrifices for the revolution as my unloved younger sibling Mike S often aptly states.
We’re mighty proud of your efforts, Coach!

At 3:50am last night and awakened by the glow of my cell phone, my wife rolls over and says in an exasperated voice, “what in the world are you doing?“. I chirped at her that I was watching Astros highlights. She called me a dork and told me to go back to sleep. I never went back to sleep…

I told my wife last night I had no idea if I would not sleep from excitement or crash hard to sleep off the stress induced exhaustion

I think it was little of both. I usually get up at 7 no matter what time I go to sleep whether I work or not(off today). I think I fell asleep about 1:30 but slept til about 9

It would be nice to win it Saturday night to give everyone an extra hour to bask in the joy.

I have gained 7 pounds since the post season began due to my game day bowl of brisket queso routine and too many beers.

I apologize for falling asleep during the 8th inning. I went to sleep on the couch with the Astros up 3-1 and woke up with Pressley on the mound and runners at 1st and 3rd. I will do better in future games, since apparently my attention and thoughts are required for the Astros to win.

I now understand that the past 6 postseasons have created all my weight gain.

Well…you are a dork.

6.8 lbs for me. The things you do for your team.

Cannot stop thinking about this catch. And why in the hell in 2022 is there a chain link fence in a major league ballpark? I thought Chas might lose a finger!

I think I mentioned before that when the Astros won the ALCS we swapped our Broadway in Austin tickets for Thursday, the presumed off day, then got screwed by the rainout. So we listened to the first inning on our way to the show, checked at the intermission (Astros leading 2-1 in the middle of the 6th), and then couldn’t check again until we were in the parking garage waiting forever to exit. So we got the GameCast treatment for the bottom of the 9th. I didn’t learn about the Mancini and McCormick theatrics until we got home. Probably better for my heart that way.

I’m sure this was covered somewhere in the 1.2K messages in the GameZone, but I doubt that Dubon makes the catch that McCormick made. Thank heaven he was still out there. Any explanation why Dusty didn’t do his usual switch out there?

He wanted Yordan in the game in case the Phillies tied it.

Way better than a wall. It gave a bit when he hit it.
