I wonder what the Astros plans for Abreu are next year. He is really talented and ready for a bigger role in
my opinion. Starter or eventual closer?
A bigger role??? I like him where he is. How about winning the WS before we plan the future.
Looking back it seems surreal that Mike Fucking Fiers ever threw a no-hitter. Think the Astros may have made him a better pitcher? Fucking ingrate.
And then he left Houston and tossed another one. Crazy sport.
His only complete games.
Right where he is.
I love you just the way you are
Went to the Billy Joel concert last month. I loved how he sang that and immediately said ââŚand then we got divorcedâ
The latter.
THIS and his arm health for future seasons. His max innings going into this year was 113 2/3 in 2019. He only threw 101 1/3 last year and just 54 1/3 in 2020. He is now at 148 2/3 for 2022. That is a 31% increase over his previous max innings and a 47% increase over last year. These are high stress innings on an arm that hasnât experienced this level of use before.
FYI - Framber is sitting at 201 1/3 IP right now and previous high was last year 141 2/3. I am hoping for another strong 5 or 6 from him back in Houston.
His velo was on a clear downward trend for both is FB and his slider (which was also increasingly erratic.

Yeah, he hasnât changed much.
Get the ball to Mack
Thought this was cool. Christian Javier practicing in the Dominican Republic before he was an Astro. A few years later he throws 6 innings of no hit baseball in the World Series. Love it.
Exactly. And not just that win, a world series win could hinge on him having those extra pitches to throw late in a decisive game 6 or 7. Javier understood this. Verlander, when being pulled after 5 perfect (or no hit?) innings late in the reg season, understood this. A team win and a possible world championship trump any individual achievement.
What is sad for this sport, is that so many disagree with the Astros superior approach to never putting themselves above the team. Astros clubhouse has a winning formula for that and, well, they hate us âcause they ainât us!
Who is actually doing this?
Jim was saying Jayson Stark, Harold Reynolds, and others disagreed with pulling Javier and not letting him finish the no hitter, like they were disrespecting the game by not giving the people what they want.
