Does that matter? They need another catcher to replace Castro.
Of course it matters but them’s the breaks.
Also, at this point, the COVID-19 protocol is a fuckin’ joke. It’s the final, tiny, shriveled appendix memorializing the fact that at some point MLB gave a shit about public health.
No, comparing “value” does not matter. They need a backup for Machete, and Stubbs is all there is. If you want to be pissed at someone, try Castro. Piss poor time for Covid.
Probably gone. But it’s MLB so who knows.

I hope that when Stubbs gets a chance he succeeds. The Astros had no other option. I am disappointed that Castro the more valuable player is not available but not pissed. Am I not allow to express disappointment?
Haha. Nice slipping in “valuable.” Since we are talking about one possible PH appearance a game, “value,” however you are defining it, is irrelevant.
Am I not allow to express disappointment without inciting a petulant frenzy?
Two things:
-
For the COVID protocol, there is a minimum 5-day period a player must quarantine before being eligible again, so the earliest Castro could come back is Thursday. Game 7 would be Wednesday.
-
Per the MLB Postseason roster rules, once a player is replaced on a Postseason roster, said player is ineligible for the remainder of that series, no matter what.
At least that’s the way it normally works. But as you say, Manfred can make up whatever rules he wants, I guess.
In the interview I posted Click hinted that there was a chance he could come back.
He’s also not allowed to say if Castro tested positive, or if he was vaccinated, all he can say is he’s “in the Health and Safety Protocol”
Not at all petulant (playing with Kaiser), and when did anyone ever stop you from saying anything? You make me laugh daily.
Ah hell, Jim, I’m sorry. I am the petulant one. Having a bad day.
During the regular season there’s a 10-day minimum if you test positive and a 5-day minimum if you are suspected or are in close contact. Could be different for the Postseason. I know they expanded the taxi squads this year, but am not sure of other rule changes.
If the Astros don’t win tonight, I’ll be totally intolerable tomorrow.
No worries, pal. Hope it gets better.
Not a big fan of Halloween, massive doses of sugar, or weak sauce hitting. C’mon Stros! Get us back to Houston
Man, I loved Halloween when I was a kid. My mother met my brother and me at the door, though, confiscated our candy, and rationed it back to us throughout the year.
I loved Halloween too. Always a good time in our neighborhood. It was also my mother’s birthday, a source of great amusement around our house.
My mom’s birthday was Halloween too. When she was in the hospital, the nurse commented on this saying “well I bet that was fun.” Mom’s response was " well, the children were always more interested in the candy than my birthday". Made me feel really small.
