Yeah, that is a hefty price. If that is going rate, this might really be a dudline.
Iām gonna be really excited if we get Cease. If we got Cease and Duran I would hop up and down. If we got Cease, Duran and Alcantara I wouldā¦I donāt know what I would do. But I guess we couldnāt possibly have the chips. I think those three in that order would be my dream ticket. Cedric Mullins would be good, as would Ryan OāHearn.
Apparently they are viewing Cease as this yearās Kikuchi. The pitching nerds can fix him.
Hearing its very likely if they can figure out MLB pieces that help SD. THIS YEAR to send back.
Hearing SD needs C, LF, util. inf, and a SP to backfill Ceases spot.
I hope they are smarter than me because I donāt see how the Astros can match up.
Dubon is needed. both Caratini and Diaz are needed. No healthy LF that is an upgrade for SD. Canāt afford to give up SP.
I assume you mean Jarren Duran, but Rosenthal reports that Jhoan Duran is being traded to the Phillies.
Even if he only hit .200, it would be worth it just to watch his OF defense each night.
That is good news. I had heard Seattle was after him. A pairing of Duran and Munoz wouldāve been formidable.
I just donāt see this deal happening if that is what SD wants back. Just my opinion, but Iām not moving Yanier for a rental pitcher.
I really want Castro or Mickey Moniak. Wouldnāt mind both actually. But one of them and a 3-5 slot position arm for the rotation and Iāll take my chances. I just donāt think we have the pieces to get anything more impactful. Weāll know shortly if Iām wrong or right.
If San Diego wants Yainer Diaz with multiple years of control tor a rental in Dylan Cease, they can kick rocks. The Astros do not need to be giving up valuable, controllable big leaguers for a rental pitcher when Framber Valdez is also a free agent to be. Thatās robbing Peter to pay Paul.
Iād much rather see if the Twins would be willing to salary dump Correa at a cheap cost and get him to play third base in Paredesā absence this year, and second base next year. Willi Castro or Brendan Donovan would also be nice, versatile additions.
Ari Alexander says to keep an eye on Melton for SD.

That makes more sense. Cease hasnāt been good this year and hits free agency in two months. I think the Astros can fix him, but Iām not giving up Yainer Diaz to find out.
Iām in on that one.
My thought exactly.
Astros are acquiring Ramon Urias from Baltimore. No word yet on the cost. He can play second, short and third. Currently batting .248 with 8HR for the Orioles. Heās got a .688 OPS. This doesnāt really move the needle for me. Heās also a right handed hitter so heās no help from the left hand side.
He was making $3.15M so this deal alone would still keep us under the tax line. Heās got one more year of arbitration eligibility.
This should put the Correa rumors to bed.

Why? This could just as well be a replacement for Whitcomb if heās sent in a deal.
Exactly. This seems like pure bench upgrade to me.
Perhaps. But if this was just a bench upgrade, would liked to have seen a lefty bat.

You are reading way too much into the Urias acquisition. Heās a bench player that can start at different positions in a pinch, like Dubón. I could see the Astros viewing him as a cheaper version of a super utility man like Willi Castro, but the Correa deal comes down to how much money the Twins are willing to absorb on his contract. If Crane is comfortable with the number, a deal is possible. If not, he stays in Minnesota.
Feinsand tweeting again 7 minutes ago that the Astros are making a big push for Cease with one source saying he is the main target.
I hardly think Brown just clapped his hands together and said āIām done.ā

Iām sure youāre probably correct. I just want the left handed bat and this isnāt it. That might be cost prohibitive though if we are throwing the best of what we have to trade after Ceaseā¦if those reports are accurate. And it seems like they are.
