Something Luhnow said in his interview with Chandler Rome stuck with me: at the right spot on the marginal win curve, even a 1-2% boost in your World Series odds is worth millions of dollars in expected revenue. It’s a lot easier to think of a 1-2% boost as worthless in baseball terms, but the Astros are thinking in business terms too. They’re gonna go for it, as they should (despite what I may say when I’m similarly in a glass-half-empty mood).

Left last nights game feeling light headed, aledgedly.
I would be interesting for them to get Castro and Correa. Put Carlos at third and Castro can play second and Altuve left or vice versa until Alvarez is back. When he returns, you can stick Castro in center until Jake is back.
I don’t think you can expect Alvarez to be back this season.

I’m pessimistic on adding Correa too but maybe coming back home would give him a spark and the team a spark. I’m also pessimistic that the news is true. The Astros usually keep their cards pretty close when they are considering trading for someone. It wouldn’t surprise me if they make a big move but if they do, I bet it surprises everyone as to who it is.

The Angels have acquired left-handed reliever Andrew Chafin and right-handed reliever Luis Garcia in a trade with the Nationals. In return, the Nats receive 26-year-old lefty Jake Eder.
Everything being reported re: Correa makes me think he’ll be an Astro by 2026 but not by Friday unless MN is desperate to move him.
