Trade Deadline

Cranking up this thread for '25.

So apparently BOS is making Jarren Duran available. They apparently need starting pitching. Would you part with Arrighetti for him? We are thin in the rotation too so that might be a price we aren’t at liberty to pay but thought I’d throw it out there. Acquiring him would push Altuve back to 2B but if you want a lefthanded bat that plays on the infield that is probably going to be hard to come by.

I love Spaghetti but I’d have no problem including him in a trade for Duran.

Duran would also be a nice insurance policy should Jake’s calf injury take a turn for the worse.

I would do it, depending on what else goes Bostons way.

I’m sure I sound like a broken record here, but my target would be Jesus Sanchez from Miami. Would be a cheaper cost and I think there is some real upside there.

Rosenthal says the Astros are looking for a “top-of-the-rotation starter” (and were even before McCullers’ blister), preferably one with club control – presumably Framber’s eventual replacement.

If they can’t get a starter, they’ll go for a high-leverage reliever. They are also looking for a LHB that can play 2B, and could explore options at 3B as well due to Paredes’ injury.

Freddy Peralta? Roll the dice on Sandy Alcantara? Who else is out there with club control?

I think Peralta is due to be FAgent, but maybe he does have one more year after '25.

Maybe Edward Cabrera - MIA?

Whomever PIT has that you deem as value on pitching side. They are always looking to build towards the future.

Peralta has a cheap club option for ‘26. Cabrera makes a ton of sense, he’ll be expensive but he sure fits the bill.

Erick Fedde was just DFA’d by STL. He pitched well last year for both CWS and STL. Better for CWS, but still pretty good after the trade to STL as well. This year however has been a different story. I went to Baseball Savant and velo/spin rates, year to year, look basically the same so not sure if the the league(s) figured him out or if it’s lack of command or game plan. Regardless, he makes $7.5M this year and set to be a FA at year’s end. He might qualify as a depth piece.

Honestly sounds like a perfect guy for Josh Miller to get his hands on

Josh Naylor traded to the Mariners. I hate this because I like Naylor

Gave up their #13 and #16 prospects, both pitchers.

With a week left until the deadline now it’s finally time for Astros fans to start expecting Brown to make a deal. I’m hopeful but guarded. I know Brown is not dealing from a position of strength. Sellers are not plentiful…and payroll constraints along with a beatdown farm system will make dealing difficult. All that said, fingers crossed Brown can pull a rabbit (or two) out of his hat.

"FWIW to any of u, I’ve been asking around seeing if I can gain some intel & I’m hearing the same thing I mentioned in the spaces the other night.

“Jim” is still checking in on a certain AL infielder who currently has a NTC and will only waive it for one team…Houston."

Apparently he’s talking about Correa and no, it doesn’t make any sense to me either.

“The Astros are also showing interest in Eugenio Suárez and have a deep enough farm system to back a potential trade, per industry sources.”

I guess Peña and Paredes are in fact being treated by Tucker’s doctor.

I think it’s pretty safe to say Paredes is done for the season. Any interest in Correa is for him to play 3B.

No way Crane gives go ahead on the Correa contract as it stands now ($33Mper)…and no way Twins eat enough to change his mind either…IMO.

I heard an interesting name the other day, which was Donovan from STL. Lefthanded bat that plays on the infield. Also controllable.

Donovan would be a great pickup.

I see no chance of them acquiring Correa (or any reason to, for that matter) at the deadline. You can at least squint and see a case for it once Abreu’s contract is off the books, but not much of one.

Ryan McMahon goes to the Yankees, meaning they are likely out on Suarez.
