Where is Wagner, Lidge, Dotel when we need them?
Jim Bowden is to baseball commentary what Angel Hernandez is to umpiring.
What a joke. Strom is one of the main reasons for our success over the past 7 years. I don’t think we win a World Series without his leadership and development of our pitching staff. Dusty Baker really should receive zero credit for anything at this point.
I heard his 2 preferences are : 1) in the playoff hunt and 2) west coast if possible.
So that leaves San Diego, San Francisco, and Los Angeles as the likely front runners.
Heard from whom? Be wary of internet experts and rumors. JV wanted the Dodgers IIRC.
One thing from Bowden that did make sense:
If you hear a rumor about player destinations without any discussion of potential returns, that leak is almost always from their agent.
Great point.
I could not honestly tell you where I heard it.
The bottom line is that Washington will take the best offer then Max will accept it or not.
I’m sure that unless there is a specific reason to not go there, he accepts whatever deal they choose.
It’s only 2 months after all so geography should not play too much of an issue.
Toro is in a Mariners uniform!?!?
Kendal Graveman for Toro and Smith
Hate to lose Toro, but just removing Smith from Dusty’s quiver is a plus. Hopefully, Graveman can keep up the good work he’s done this season. Montero has been awful this season, so hopefully Dusty doesn’t develop a crush on him too.
Contact situation?
My thoughts exactly HH. Graveman has been solid. Nice addition to the bullpen.
It seems kind of like Toro for Graveman and the other two are a salary swap
If your talking about Graveman he’s cheap. Making $1.25M and free agent at years end. This improves us a bit AND keeps us under the threshold…for now.
Good move by Click. But it’s gonna take a little more.
Quick look says he’s a FA after this year
Weird trade but Graveman is a great addition. Big step toward shoring up the team’s biggest weakness. We will all miss Toro.
Agree about Toro. Let’s hope he doesn’t hurt us, but good for him in the long run perhaps. He was probably never going to be anything here but a utility guy. Perhaps he has more playing time down the line the the M’s.
Strange trade though between two teams in the same division in a playoff race.
Smith and Toro were both good Astros.
I wish them well with the usual caveats.
If this is the end of the line for Smith, he’s had a hell of a career.
We should all remember the yeoman 's work he did in the 2019 WS.
