You can’t trade guys (like Solis) on the 60-day IL, correct?
I don’t think you can but that isn’t my area of expertise.
Huh, cool. Did they change that rule or has that always been the case?
Honestly I don’t recall.
I believe that’s a recent rule change.
Maybe it does not account for the ‘win now’ factor of a true contender.
Absolutely it doesn’t. Let’s say this were the Royals instead of the Astros trading Urquidy to the Nats for Scherzer. No way you trade 4 years of a good, quality middle of the rotation starter for 2 months of Scherzer, regardless of how good he is. Urquidy is the better value. But the simulator can’t anticipate the intangible value that Astros, Red Sox, or some other playoff hopeful team might value those two months of Mad Max.
Wasn’t Martin on the 60 day IL when they traded him for Grienke?
Padres have acquired Frazier from the Pirates.
Niles staying put?
Whit Merrifield to the Mariners is heavily in the works.
Byron Buxton turned down an extension and may be in play for somebody.
True about Buxton. But Rosenthal is indicating that Buxton, due to his injury, most like won’t be traded until the off season. He speculates however that his refusal to sign an extension most likely hastens the trade of Rogers and Berrios.
I’d love to have Taylor Rogers in an Astros uniform.
Reportedly getting Kimbrel from the Cubs too.
Jeeeeeebus…Pads are not messing around
They have a deep farm system and the Dodgers are vulnerable. They should go all in.
Haven’t seen it announced yet.
Either way, this should be an interesting week.
Oh no doubt, they’ve been doing it since the offseason.
I wouldn’t have minded Kimbrel in Houston though.
Where the hell is the Kimbrel to the Padres news even being reported at?
Was wondering the same thing. I haven’t seen it yet either. .
