Trade Deadline Possibilities 2021

Meyers’ home numbers are solid. Remember he went from High A to AAA this year because of the lost season last year.

Home 295/344/464 10 2B, 0 3B, 3 HR 7BB/24K (29 G 122 PA)
Away .377/451/692 7 2B, 2 3B, 10 HR 18BB/35K (39 G 182 PA)

Hitting older pitchers .329/.388/.551

LHP .321/369/679
RHP .352/423/565

Defensive Games played: CF 25, LF 16, RF 20

And here I thought Meyers might be one of the kids that got traded today.

I would have liked a Dusty Baker for AJ Hinch swap. I would have even thrown Raley in.

What is your evaluation of him along with McCormick’s defense in center field?

We absolutely cannot put a newly called up CF from AAA unless his name is Cesar Cedeno. There has to be something afoot. Straw at least had speed and was improving overall.

Good Summary of MLB level moves:

If they wanted Meyers up, they could do that at any time with or without a trade. Maybe they like Meyers better and that’s fine. I don’t have to understand it, I’m not the one making decisions

I have not seen either one in person so I can’t really give an opinion on defense. @Walt_Bond likely has better insight.

That is fucking nonsense.

Maybe the difference in the arm they got and the arm they had was greater than the difference between the CF they traded and the one in AAA.

They couldn’t have called him up when ever they wanted with out sending someone else down or someone being hurt. That is just magical thinking and lazy.

Defense is the only worry I have about this move. The lineup is virtually unchanged.

Other than being fast, is Straw really that great of a defensive OF?

You have no worry there. Chas is solid.

My point was if they think Meyers/Chas is better than Straw/Chas they could call up Meyers and send down Straw. If you’re referring to the 40-man spot, Raley is right there ready to be DFA’d

I will never criticize a pitcher they seek to acquire. They proved to me long ago they know what they are doing.

If his defense is good enough for CF, we can compensate for Straw since Bregman will rejoin the club shortly.

That is silly. They would not do this and get nothing from the move.

He was an average fielder with his speed. His sometimes poor reads off the bat and inefficient routes were often corrected by his exceptional speed.
