Hahahaha.
There it is
What I’m wondering is if this entire situation might give young players a different perception on signing a long term deal now versus waiting till free agency. Speaking of…I haven’t heard a damn thing about Framber, Javier or Tucker since Morosi reported possible extensions a week or so ago. Was hoping we’d have seen at least one by now.
This where I’ve ended up too. I have nothing but well wishes for Correa, but this saga is awfully entertaining.
Correa has played 150 games in a season once in 8 years. He hasn’t proven that he can stay healthy. Carlos has been good, not great, in the regular season when healthy. Carlos has been great in the playoffs when healthy. The only other thing he is great at is running his mouth about how great he thinks he is. Houston’s offer was more than fair and is comparable to what the Twins are offering. I’m betting he’s regretting not signing that Houston contract secretly.
So Correa has gone from opting out of $35MM/year with the Twins to negotiating $33MM/year from the Twins. If he negotiates hard enough, he could be in line to earn himself $28MM/year from the Twins.
I’m sure Daniella is thrilled after house-hunting in San Francisco and New York, she’s stuck freezing her ass off in Minnesota. Unhappy wife, unhappy life…enjoy it Carlos.
That “Fargo” accent up there is terrible on Texan ears. I nearly shit the first time I heard “hall-uh-peen-o peppers.”
You bet 'cha.
As of the 2020 census, 6.1% hispanic in the Minneapolis area and 38% in the Houston area. If that matters to them at all.
Honestly, summers in Minneapolis and winters in a warmer, larger city sounds like a pretty nice setup.
He’ll probably get a paper route too.
I think it is hilarious you feel sorry for a guy who just received a guaranteed $200 million for playing baseball.
Except that he got another $130M in guaranteed money over those 4 extra years.
They’re more likely interested in the percentage of extremely wealthy people.
He must not believe in himself.

Poor Carlos will have to eat off the dollar menu just to make it.

He must not believe in himself.
Those medicals seem to indicate he shouldn’t.
Baseball is played from April to October (September for the Twins), and Minneapolis has some of the best weather imaginable over that interval. And from November to March, when everyone in Minneapolis is bundled up in front of the fireplace they won’t notice Correa is off to USPR.
