A comparison to Vasquez re team needs and expectations vis the player’s personal assessment may be in order. The player will prioritize himself separate from whatever the team management desires. Starting is preferable to imposed utility status, even the prospect of starting
Dang it will be tough to see him in Boston if true. But I’ve thought all along that if he was going to sign in Houston, he already would have.

The administration probably wants Hensley in the job for multiple reasons. Yuli would be a pricey utility if. Two years removed from a batting title, why would he accept this?
I have resolved myself to the idea that Altuve and possibly Yordan are the last star level players to spend their entire career in Astros uniforms.
Right or wrong this owner will not agree to deals as long or as lucrative as other owners will.
It is working so far, but watching favorite players leave is the price.
The CBA expires in 2026.
I expect the owners to insist the next CBA saves them from themselves.

I thought of Yordan because his extension runs through his age 31 season.
Hopefully as a 32 year old FA his contract demands will be acceptable to Crane
If he’s coming off four consecutive 40-homer seasons, which seems entirely possible, there will be plenty of owners willing to throw obscene amounts of money at him.
Far more likely we’d trade a relief pitcher for a promising minor leaguer
