“Plus, his fucking ego was immeasurable.”
Thanks for the memories and such, JV. You done did us proud here in Houston and I’m ever grateful.
Wish you all the best.
However, comma, fuck the hated ny steM and now that you’re on their team.
Rosenthal says Judge back to the Yankees is done: 9/360
Dang, that’s going to end up being a terrible contract. I didn’t realize Judge was already 30.
Rosenthal popped Heyman.
He willingly went back to a place that heartily booed him in the playoffs. After that amazing year. When his performance will decline year-over-year. A glutton for punishment, I guess.
Lots of people will get punished for that much money.
Puts on tinfoil hat…Heyman colluded with Judge’s agent by tweeting that and putting pressure on the Yanks to match the offer.
Removes tinfoil hat…oh wait, Heyman sucks, nevermind.
“Thank you sir, my I have another $40 million”
It will be interesting to see how long he will be able to perform at his current level.
Fantastic News. He is good, but that is a fucking big contract and that man ain’t getting any younger.
I bet he will put up good numbers for a few more years if he stays healthy. The last half of that deal they will be paying $40 million a year for a very mediocre/declining player, likely a DH.
The money was the same in SF.
Anyone glad he went to NYY can turn in their Astros’ fan card. Judge is a sensational 4/5-tool player and he earned his MVP. It was a Rick’s-level tease that he might go to the NL.
The Astros showed that you can effectively pitch to him. 1 fer 16 with 1 BB in a 4-game playoff series against 10 Astros pitchers. I am guessing 29 other teams are looking at how the Astros did that very closely this offseason. Especially those in the AL East.
The near term Yankees are better with him so I’m disappointed he stayed.
Yes, but what Das said, plus I think they’d of went hard after 3-4 more pieces if they missed out on him.
Yankees currently have $130M in 2023 tied up with 4 players. That contract, along with Stanton’s, isn’t going to age well.
Thinking about the Yankees and Verlander…they are the only team he consistently pitched really well against in the post-season.
Unfortunately for Mr. Upton he won’t get to face them except in the unlikely event of a Subway World Series.
I’m with BillyD. I may eat my words, but I’m gladdened by this outcome. The Yankees scrabbling around desperate after failing to re-ink their marquee player would be more frightening to me than the Yankees committing massive longtime resources to someone we’ve shown we know how to beat.
