The Inevitable What About The Inevitable You-Know-Who Thread Thread

interesting timing.

He needs to sign a bill protecting Der Santis from when Musk’s social media platforms explode.

The story went all around right wing internet for a couple of days (Fox, NY Post, etc…), now it says

The truth:

The House has to do it during the Session, which ends in a few days. The Senate trial can occur after the Session. That’s my understanding at least.

District Judge Amit Mehta: “I dare say, Mr. Rhodes, and I’ve never said this about anyone who I’ve sentenced: You, sir, present an ongoing threat and peril to this country, to the republic and the very fabric of our democracy.”

20 articles of impeachment.

“It is a sad day for Texas as we witness the corrupt political establishment unite in this illegitimate attempt to overthrow the will of the people and disenfranchise the voters of our state.” – Paxton statement, no hints of irony whatsoever

Nope. Good explanation about halfway down this article. Attorney General Ken Paxton impeached: What to know | The Texas Tribune

I see, but I still think the House’s hurry is to get their side of the impeachment done during the session, as opposed to something else about to drop regarding Paxton.

Lordy, there are tapes.

The Paxton impeachment is pretty interesting.

Texas House votes to impeach Paxton 121-23. Color me astounded

I wonder if that means they know they’re backstopped by a Senate that won’t convict.

I suspect there’s a good chance there won’t be much of a real trial in the Senate. I can see Patrick basically declare that it’s a liberal witch hunt, brain dead Texas Trumpers will nod in agreement, and they’ll call it a day.

Patrick’s son led the investigation that led to recommending impeachment. He’s a Trump appointee. Perhaps dad thinks he’s a liberal socialist baby eater, and I have no doubts Patrick would throw his own family under the bus to protect his cronies, but this wasn’t a partisan deal. Paxton’s wife doesn’t want to lose her seat on the grifter’s gravy train, so there’s one vote to acquit. I have no expectations that he’ll come close to conviction, but it’ll be interesting, I suspect.

At the very least, some interesting evidence ought to be read into the record, and there will be no way to spin it as liberal media making up lies.

Maybe, but two Trumps, Cruz and some right-wing wing nuts have either summarily dismissed it as a liberal witch hunt or have provided tidy excuses for why it shouldn’t happen. I’ll be surprised if Patrick treats it as even mildly legit. Once he does, it becomes harder to acquit

Trumpists are just ripe for plucking.

I read something like this, and one scammed woman’s daughter described it as “it’s almost like she’s in a cult.” Umm…that’s because she’s in a cult.

Politics has birthed many cults. Some good ones, some bad ones.

Ken Paxton or Dan Morales? Which Texas AG is/was the bigger crook?

Way to honor the fallen, guys.
