The Inevitable What About The Inevitable You-Know-Who Thread Thread

I’m sure the demand for some kind of allocution has been the sticking point. I guess we will find out if Fox was able to buy out of fessing up.

I really wanted to see those fuckers squirm on the stand.

I’ve never imagined that Fox would permit the possibility of an outcome where they have to stand up and say Yeah guess what we lie to our viewers constantly because that’s what they like, sorry about that.

But still, this is probably going to suck.

I can’t see any monetary settlement where this is not a massive W for Fox.

These people make their money by instilling false terror in rednecks and old people. They are never, ever going to say Hey sorry, the boogeyman isn’t real.

Exactly. If they did this, they would have no business going forward.

So I presume they had to pay a premium in the settlement to skip that part.

So they’re going to pay less than half of what Dominion initially demanded, and ostensibly they won’t have to say much if anything.

Trump should hire Fox’s lawyers immediately.

Vice is reporting the settlement is $787,500,000

The statement from Fox’s attorneys acknowleding the Court’s ruling that certain claims about Dominion were false says everything to me. Sure, we may not have been ENTIRELY truthful, but, you know that’s all in the past and everyone should just move on.

“Certain” claims, but we’re not going to enumerate which claims. But trust us, Tucker would never lie to you.

Dominion spokesman just confirmed this number.

Experts have said previously that, while Dominion’s case was rock solid, justifying their monetary ask was very shaky. Even Dominion said the loss was closer to $1 billion.

Doesn’t “hire” suggest payment?

…to the SmartMatic suit coming down the tracks.

On the surface, at least, this seems like a cave by Dominion. I wonder what the calculus was.

Money now. What they got was a lot less than they were asking, but they get it now, without endless appeals and delays.

Less than $1B. Pocket change for Fox.

It’s 10x what Dominion was acquired for by its current owners.

Absolutely no reason now to believe that won’t get settled.

SM came out with a very punchy statement but, of course, it’s all just posturing. Fox has to settle with SM now, otherwise they just set $787,500,000 on fire.

ETA: Using the same ratio of claim to settlement, SM would get $1.3 billion.
