Texans 2021

What Cully said postgame

What he said in the press conference wasn’t that he didn’t know he could decline the penalty, it was somehow worse in its incoherence. I wish I could distill it, but I can’t. He referred to plays that didn’t happen, talked in circles. He clearly has no idea what he’s doing. I’m sure someone posted it on Twitter.

The really telling stat from the broadcast was this: Texans are +21 (or something like that) in points in the first half and -91 (or something like that) in the 2nd half. That just screams “coaching staff out of their league”.

I heard him talk about the Patriots passing there, which did not happen. One of the talking heads said that Culley was asked if he knew he simply could have declined the penalty, and Culley allegedly said, “no, we weren’t aware of that”. I guess that’s hearsay.

Even so…he could have simply declined the penalty, which meant they’d have gotten the ball back with 1:50 seconds left, down by 6 or 7. Instead, he chose to get the ball back down by 3 with 15 seconds left. The Browns were in the exact same situation against the Chargers, and actually dragged the Chargers RB across the goal line, in order to get the ball back with a legit shot. They didnt score, but they had a shot. Culley is simply in WAY over his head.

It really looked like they were trying to lose in the 2nd half.

I still want to know who thought, when up by 13, that this was a good idea:

This is the 2nd or 3rd time in 5 weeks he’s done the next day “I would do my dumbass decision differently if I could” routine.

So in just a few short week, he’s learned he should wait until 4th down to punt and he’s learned that he should not let his opponent run the clock out. Boy, being a head coach in the NFL is a real learning laboratory.

Talking heads talked about this after the game, and opined that Casserio listens in, but is not involved in calling plays. It would be far too difficult and impractical, even if he wanted to. So take that for what it’s worth.

Easterby is the part of that photo that makes me wonder what the fuck is going on

Easterby calls the shots for all of those guys. He’s like Frank Sinatra in the Rat Pack. They don’t squeeze a drop without his say-so.

Then he’s the guy that should get canned for allowing all of these pathetic hires in the first place.

I realize I’m dreaming.

Jon Gruden fired… well resigned.

After the rest of the emails got released today I figured it was just a matter of time

For something careless that he wrote 10 years ago? Or for losing to the Bears?

For writing a bunch of sexist, racist shit in his work email 10 years ago.

I thought some of it was more recent. So, the “I was a POS ten years ago, but now I’m a changed man” defense doesn’t apply.
