Season in jeopardy already?

You’ve got 30 guys on the travel roster, plus who knows how many other personnel. They’re going through airports, etc, and at least some of those teams are going to have one or more kids who feel invulnerable and feel that it’s their right to go out “to relax” after the game. And it only takes one guy to bring it crashing down. I don’t see how this doesn’t hit every team if they keep playing.

Social distancing in dugouts ain’t happening.

It sure hasn’t so far. I wonder if it will if a bunch of players get seriously ill.

Olberman says the season may end as early as Monday.

I hope his sources are right. This season is a farce, and it should not continue.

Nah, Manfred said “I am not a quitter.” First comment? “If you had stripped the Astros’ title, none of this would have happened.” Astros caused COVID too, apparently.

Manfred is an idiot. The opting out should start en masse.

Manfred’s leak about warning the players association was a thinly veiled attempt to blame the players in advance of the cancelation.

They play in stadiums with literally tens of thousands of empty seats. Yet the teams remain in their dugouts.

Correct. Also, there is minimal social distancing in these dugouts, and many players aren’t even wearing masks. Why develop safety protocols and precautions if you aren’t going to have an MLB official at every stadium strictly enforcing them?

People that make comments like that are fools. I do my best to ignore them, but it’s hard to do all the time.

Lorenzo Cain has opted out for the Brewers.

Apparently, the word is some of the Cardinal players went to a casino before the outbreak. Some players aren’t following any of the guidelines. All it takes is a few for the spread to happen.

More COVID-19 stats:

This 3 Aug 20 List of COVID-19 cases in baseball included:

  • Number of positive tests - 79
  • Average age - 26.9
  • Players 30 or over - 20
  • Players cleared to return after a positive test - 45

I am encouraged that more than HALF of the players/staff have returned since testing positive (45 of 79). Thankfully, there have apparently been no deaths.

It appears that no matter how many times a player/staff tested positive, it would only count as ONE positive test. (Their names were listed, including those that had returned.)

The love of the game is obvious on this site, so is your knowledge. I have learned much already. Any possible sources that would provide the age breakdown of current MLB players?

Much obliged!

Is the season champion going to be the last team able to take the field?

Manfred will wheel out the ventilators. PLAY BALL!

As long as it’s the Yankees.

Cards are the latest team with an outbreak of COVID.

10 games have been postponed because of it, too.

They are gonna have a home run derby to make up the missed games.

Yeah, I haven’t even bothered to ask what the league thinks it’s going to do to make these games up. One because I don’t care, two because I feel fairly certain they have no idea.

You’ve heard of 7 inning doubleheaders? Well, now try 3 inning quadrupleheaders!
