Roster Moves 2026

Or just leave the current guy out there. If you think Matthews is going to be your long-term CF, you should let him get his reps out there.

I’m indifferent about Espada. He’s not the problem, but he’s not great, either. Lambert and Arrighetti are the team’s two most consistent starters, and neither was on the opening day roster. It seems like whoever’s in charge of talent evaluation should be the first to go.

Hilarious that they don’t de-emphasize the slider if their conclusion is that it can’t be thrown safely.

Not necessarily, Pena right now is in the same boat as Tucker was in 2024. Even if the Astros won the World Series this year, he’s a year away from free agency so would be a trade target. Unlike with Tucker, there’s no reason to wait for the offseason to move him. In fact, waiting for the offseason would be a huge risk because of the CBA

Not that they should but theoretically you can trade Pena and still compete next year with a bargain FA at SS

I’m not sure how much stock I put in theory at this point.

Or Shewmake if the rest of the lineup is deep.

But the cupboard is bare of minor league SS close to MLB

This team isn’t competing, this year or next.

If they are going to start moving guys, I hope they tear it all down and do it right. Yordan could nearly single handedly rebuild the whole farm system if they were to move him this year. Have to think Pena and Brown could both bring back some good prospects too. I hope they handle it like they did when Crane bought the team.

I am in total agreement. Is Brown? Is Crane? My guess is Crane would disagree and Brown won’t be here either way

I would be absolutely shocked if we see anywhere near that level of teardown.

“While I own the team, the window is always open”

If we take Crane at his word, Pena is traded and pending free agents are traded, maybe Walker, but that’s it

C’mon! They don’t need to be in the fight. They chase the fight!

Clean up the arena after the fight and scrounge for loose change!

Depressing. Was Josh Miller ever actually a good pitching coach or was he just a good chemist?

It’s possible he left because those orders came down and he decided he didn’t want to be part of it, just to look at a different possible angle.

I think Brent Strom was a great pitching coach and Josh Miller was in a really good position when he fell into that position after Strom left.

Peña activated and George Costanza called up. Altuve to the IL and Cody Bolton DFA.

Today’s moves:

To the IL: LMJ
Activated from the IL: Jake Meyers, Nate Pearson (for his season debut)
Optioned to AAA: Shay Whitcomb

They only let him go so long…

Out of kindness I suppose

I will second the notion (that someone threw out a while back) that the best version of Pancho and Lefty is the live version from TVZ’s Rear View Mirror
