I like this call.
Out of curiosity, does anyone know if Jeremy Peña is still live?
Who?
In all seriousness, I completely forgot about Ronel Blanco. When my brother was three or four he’d wrap his toys as Christmas presents to himself and by the time Christmas rolled around sure enough he’d have forgotten what he’d wrapped and it would be like getting brand new presents. I imagine the IL has some of those in store for me over the next three to five years.
Espada says Yainer will go on IL
That’ll help improve the pitching relative to the offense.
Hader is supposed to return in May. That should help.
That’s a load bearing “supposed to”
In Texas we say “s’poseta”. It’s one word…like “fixinto”
Called up: Zach Dezenzo, Jason Alexander
Optioned: Ryan Weiss
DFA: Dustin Harris
Up: Logan VanWey
Down: Jason Alexander
Let’s take out this deck chair, and put that one closer to the rail…
The Twins claimed Christian Roa after he was DFA’d. So long.
Roa now claimed by the Orioles after the Twins cut him loose.
An Interesting post from " my friend" today:
Take it for what it is worth - but the Astros already are talking to teams about Jeremy Pena.
If the Astros get fair value - he will be moved by the deadline.
The man isn’t even healthy yet and teams want him.
Still not a lot of interest in Walker at this point.
Another one from “my friend” when asked about Dana and Joe’s futures.
Asked about this.
The MLB manager and coaching staff will be new.
No commitment one way or the other on Brown - some around the Astros think that he may survive.
As for the injuries — the pitching guys place a lot of blame on MLB for not developing a legal spider tact like they claimed they would.
Also - the Astros, Rays, Dodgers, Brewers and others have built into the recipe that there will be a lot of pitching injuries. Same with the Pirates.
I am sure it will be discussed and addressed, but I do not expect a move away from maximum velocity or the current philosophy.

If that’s their attitude, they should be losing their jobs.

Fair value is pretty damn high, but this is the right approach.
If they get the right deal, whenever it is, next week, next month, July 31, pull the trigger
So, this signals a rebuild on the way right? I don’t know how it could be taken any other way.
Is there a SS in the minors that is MLB ready for playing? I don’t see one. Certainly not at the level of a healthy Pena. Neyens is a couple of years off I would think. Unless they rush him which would probably be a mistake.
I figure they’d shift Matthews to short for the time being.
