Roster Moves 2026

So y’all are just gonna dismiss the possibility that it’s Brice Matthews?

Squared up % is kind of a nebulous concept metric. What it’s basically saying is “how hard did you hit this compared to how hard you could have hit it” it’s based on your swing speed, the pitch type, location and speed.

So if you had a middle middle 95MPH fastball and your swing speed is 75.2MPH, the data says the maximum exit velocity on that would be 120MPH and you hit it at 95MPH, that would be hard hit and if you barreled it, it might be a homer but it would not be considered squared up because it’s <80% of “potential” exit velocity.

Conversely, say you make contact with a slider in the dirt somehow, it comes in at 85MPH and you hit it 76MPH but the max is 80MPH, this would not be hard hit, would have very little chance of a good outcome but would be “squared up”

All these numbers are completely made up, I have no idea what the actual math would be on various pitch types

Squared up isn’t useless but imo it’s one of the lesser metrics on there

If he’d quit hitting so many home runs he’d have more opportunities to work on his base running.

If base trotting were a stat instead of base running, he would be in that 90-95 range.

For that kind of power hitter to have a K rate below 10 is freakish.

I love you all of course, but shut the fuck up already with the Yordan praise.

Break a leg Yordan!!!

The Twins claimed Christian Roa after he was DFA’d. So long.

You see all that red man? He sucks, obviously, or it would be green

That’s some granular shit.

I found the perfect visual representation of Houston’s Offense and Pitching:

Not technically a roster move, but Teng will start tomorrow

I hope it doesn’t screw him up.

You can squint your way to a decent rotation if you assume Brown comes back healthy, Arrighetti keeps it up, Burrows’ results start to look more like his peripherals, and Teng isn’t hurt by increased workload/exposure. And Imai comes back healthy and better. And then they all stay healthy for the rest of the season. If all that happens, then they’ll just have to worry about a league-worst bullpen.

Hopefully they’ll tell Imai he can eat at the goddam hotel and get his ass back out there.

Would Wesneski factor in to the rotation at any point this season? Has anyone seen an update on him?

Probably not. His TJS was less than a year ago.

Absolute best case scenerio would be late August

…because the Astros have a long history of good outcomes rushing people back.

I hope we don’t see him until '27.

Looks like Cole has been called up and is starting in left tonight. Johnson DFAed.

Yainer scratched, left oblique soreness, Whitcomb optioned, Salazar called up
