Tatsuya, you can consent, or you can sit and collect your $60M with the knowledge nobody will ever sign you again.
He has an opt out after this season. I’m sure there will be some team willing to throw another bucket of cash at him, should the Astros piss him off.
I could live with that. Where do I sign?
The Dodgers would. And they would turn him into a 20 game winner because they retain the pitching analytics capabilities that both they and the Astros used to have.
Imai needs a shrink more than he needs better analytics.
Old Astros Analytics = Data says get Framber a shrink. So, they got him a shrink. New Astros coaching = throw a bunch out there and see what sticks. So, they do that.
Pena activated, Shewmake DFA
They just did it again with Burrows.
McCullers heading to Milwaukee. I know the last few years have been an utter disaster and his extention really hamstrung them but I will be forever grateful for his contributions as an Astro
24 straight curveballs.
Not sure we make the World Series without him in 2017.
Colton Gordon also included in the deal.
Return not yet known, and in sure it entirely depends on how much money we’re paying off.
The enduring image from that game burned into my brain is during the run of curves. McCullers is looking in for the sign and McCann simply flicking his glove up like “come on, we both know what you’re throwing just do it”
My guess is the deal looks like:
Astros send:
McCullers
Gordon
Money in the amount of (McCullers’ salary) – (Milwaukee’s NPV calculation for Gordon)
Brewers send:
A non-prospect on the level of whoever we sent Minnesota for Correa
Since we included Gordon I hope it’s a really limited pay down or a player better than what we gave up for Correa.
His body failed him but Lance was always a great competitor when he kept his emotions in check. Postseason ERA of 3.47 despite an all time WS blowup, which him taking that on the chin and saving the bullpen also helped lead to a championship
I don’t see that as the deal. My guess is Gordon was the price to take on LMJ’s salary. If we paid down money and included Gordon, we should be getting back at least some type of prospect.
I agree, they don’t make this trade without opening some level of tax space to make other moves
Gordon was a candidate to get DFA when Wesneski & Blanco get activated. He’s a 27-year-old who couldn’t hold a roster spot on a team with Mike Burrows in the rotation. He’s got some positive value, I’m just not sure it’s more positive than LMJ’s is negative.
