Punishments are official

And that pretty much kills any chance at signing a FA. Gotta go with who you got, not who you wish you had.

Not that it makes any of this better, but Cora is going to get demolished, maybe booted from baseball.

Taubman permanently ineligible? Are there details as to why? For being non-PC?

GTFO here with that horseshit

the culture. that was all about the culture. I think it was wrong to be in the same decision - separate issues, but whatever.

I just want a hug from Altuve.

I apologize if I offended. Was not my intention. I wanted him fired. I should not have used the term “non-PC.” But a lifetime ban is “bet on your own team” kind of stuff.

Cora wil be the sacrificial Red Sox lamb.

They already canned Dombrowski.

Cora will get squished, the Red Sox won’t notice.

Yeah, I have to say, what Taubman did was not cool and completely deserving of being fired on the spot. (I also might have dug a little deeper to find out who was lying to me about what went down if I were the owner…) But I have no idea what he might have done to deserve a baseball ban.

Seriously. Taubman was banned for being a jackass. You think that’s the appropriate punishment and that it’s tied to the sign stealing issue?

Brandon Taubman shall be ineligible to perform services on behalf of any Major League Club, either as an employee or independent contractor, through the day following the completion of the 2020 World Series, at which time he will be eligible to apply to me for reinstatement

I also wonder if it has contributed to the Springer situation. Maybe he’s going through arbitration instead of signing long-term so he can jump ship after the season.

I’m speechless. I don’t know what Crane buys by firing the two people most responsible for the greatest historical success this team has ever had.

And if I’m Hinch or Luhnow, I’ve got my lawyer on speed dial.

What sucks the most is that all that the players accomplished on the field will have this shadow cast over it. If Altuve starts slow in April, the assumption will be that he doesn’t have the benefit of the camera. Which is utter bullshit.

Taubman was not banned for being non-PC. That sounds like some sort of Tucker Carlson or AM radio trope. It’s PCs fault. As You said he was fired for being a scumbag.

I think Luhnow’s departure significantly increases the likelihood that Springer will sign with the Astros long term.

Although Hinch’s departure may reduce it, who knows.

I don’t know if Taubman would have been fired otherwise, but lying to management would get you fired in every job I’ve ever had.

I think that’s a big concern. Are players (And existing players) going to want to come here and stay long term now that this cloud will be hanging over us for years to come.

I think this applies to Hinch/Luhnow too. Crane told them to make sure the sign stealing wasn’t happening. They said they would, and didn’t.

I think he was also the point man in explaining away to MLB the employee in the photographer’s well in the 2018 postseason.

No team was beating a path to his door, he is poison [quote=“OK_Boomer, post:66, topic:267, full:true”]

Taubman’s suspension specifically references his conduct in the clubhouse.
