The cardio-vascular demands of the game necessitate frequent line changes. It’s one of those things that must be executed frequently and flawlessly in every game.
And unfortunately, aren’t something that you get to see much on a broadcast.
This was the IHL/AHL Aeros who were in Houston from 1994-2013; they were the farm team for the Minnesota Wild.
Those games at the Summit were fun.
I was already a “fornia” by then. The WHA Aeros did play in the Summit shortly after it opened and before the league folded.
Courtois is keeping Madrid in this match with two outstanding saves on Haaland headers, but Silva finally breaks through.
Citeh take the lead. Real has them right where they want them.
It’s insane how easy Silva made it look, but that was an incredibly difficult finish.
2-0 (3-1) City
City should have four or five goals by now. They just seem go be able to do whatever they want out at 25 yards and then turn it into danger in the box.
Modrić being subbed off. That’s interesting.
3-0 (4-1) City. Fork stuck in Real.
Switched over to the Championship playoff.
Is it the end of Kroos-Benzima-Modrić?
Probably.
I received the original-release precursor with stationary players and a large marble instead of a wooden puck for Christmas when I was nine. The action was unbelievably fast with two hands and six controllers. Dad & I picked teams (only six to pick from) and played a league schedule with timed two-minute periods. I still have it and play it with my now twelve-year-old grandson.

I am the opposite from Limey on these games. I love hockey and went to several minor league games in Houston during my time in Brenham. I join Mark in rooting for the Red Wings.
Soccer? To me, not so much. I watch the US World Cup games, but the rest of it to me is like watching grass grow.
I can go with the Red Wings for sure. Gordy Howe was my idol as a 9/10 year old player. Then I realized he had false teeth.
My all time 2nd favorite player was a Red Wing. Bob Probert.
Yet my enduring memory of him is when, as a Chicago Blackhawk, he fought newly signed Wing Joey Kocur (97? 98?) during their first shift of the game. I think Kocur had just been plucked out of the beer leagues.
For me it was the first (maybe second?) NHL game for Sega Genesis. I took a liking to Boston and their trio of Oates-Neely-Bourque. I suppose I also really liked Roenick-Larmer-Chelios for the Blackhawks as well, but for whatever reason Boston won out and I’ve been a Bruins fan ever since.
One of my favorite Modern Family scenes:
“We’re going to see the Kings play the Blackhawks tonight”
“They can call a team that?!?!”
“No, Black HAWKS”
