With the score still at 3-4 on aggregate, the game went into a minimum of 6 minutes of time added on at the end. The clock kept ticking inexorably towards the end of the game. It reached 6 minutes, but the referee didn’t end the game yet. It reached 7 minutes, and still the referee didn’t end it.
As it was ticking towards 8 minutes, Wednesday scored to tie it up at 4-4 on aggregate. Into extra time we go!
Just to round out the chaos: Peterborough went ahead 4-5 in the first half of extra time when Wednesday put through their own net. So 5 goals scored on the night, none by Peterborough. In the second half of extras time, Wednesday scored again to make it 5-5.
