Yeah, it’s been on the cards for a few weeks now.
As I have long said, every club is one bad owner away from oblivion. Palace has flirted with this more than most, but I fear that the period from 2010 to 2025 is going to go down as peak Palace.
ETA: The only good news here is that this should clear the way for UEFA allowing us to play in the Europa League. I’m sure that this is why they have been delaying the decision.
Well this is an interesting turn of events.
Absolutely sucks for Lyon fans (Lyonnaise?), but this throws all sorts of rocks into the pond vis à vis Palace and the Europa League. Lyon is the other Textor “controlled” club whose higher league finish is threatening Palace’s place in that money-spinning tournament.
Does this mean that Lyon’s Europa League place is in jeopardy, which would put Palace in the clear? Does relegation on financial technicalities count as a lower placed league finish than Palace’s (that being the tie-breaker that Palace is currently losing)?
Regardless, however bad Dick Penis has been as an owner in the NFL - and given that he may prove to be so in the EPL too - he’s fucking loaded beyond belief. Textor always seemed like a chancer to me, and getting him out of the ownership mix is a good thing, at least in the short term.
