Inevitable You-Know-Who Thread

You’d be better off just being ignorant of the facts rather than stringing shit together to excuse your tribalism. Your probably not a dumbass, just a troll playing the normal boring troll game.

BRAVO!!!

No, I’d say I’m not a dumbass. Did Ukraine receive aid from the current administration? Did you read the transcript on the Ukraine call? Why are you being so defensive?

Hope you did not mean I am a lost soul.

Happy, go the fuck away. Your love of a corrupt narcissistic would-be fascist dictator has turned this site into Facebook. Just stop.

Aren’t we all?

The good old, “you’re either a dumbass or a troll,” disengagement.

No, I did not mean you were the lost soul. I’ve resigned myself to the fact that Happy, while probably a good person, just sings the Republican fear rhetoric while proclaiming he is some constitutional person as loud as can be.

No. I want the commonwealth to be stronger so we can all profit.

You’re replying to yourself so I can’t tell who you are addressing, but yes I read the “transcript”, I even quoted it in my explanation to you. Those call notes explicitly showTrump telling Zelensky to get with Giuliani (not a public official) and Barr to drum up an investigation on Biden about Shokin’s removal and about Crowdstrike (the false theory that Ukraine and the Democrats conspired to hack various Democrats during the 2016 campaign in order to frame Trump and Russia. Trump also apparently thinks that Hillary’s “missing server” is in the possession of “one of [Ukraine’s] wealthy people”).

“There’s a lot of talk about Biden’s son, that Biden stopped the prosecution and a lot of people want to find out about that so whatever you can do with the Attorney General would be great. Biden went around bragging that he stopped the prosecution so if you can look into it… It sounds horrible to me.”

Crowdstrike and Biden “stopping the prosecution” are both debunked conspiracy theories. There’s no legitimate policy interest in encouraging them, but there are clear personal interests - primarily trying to get a foreign country to drum up a false investigation against Trump’s perceived biggest threat in the next election. The request alone is improper. Tying up White House visits and funding critical to Ukraine’s ability to withstand Russia (which is the USA’s actual foreign policy) in order to extract personal favors to create a false narrative about a political rival in an upcoming election is a gross abuse. The facts are all very clear.

I was addressing JBM. I don’t just love Trump myself. I did vote for Trump because I did not like Hillary. I won’t get into why. I personally wish we could clean house in both the house and senate. There are too many corrupt people who probably have things to hide running things on both sides.

Look, I could rebut his willfully stupid characterization: the Obama administration didn’t get a “favor,” they implemented policy, signed off by Republicans. That’s why it’s out in the open and on fucking YouTube. Seriously, comparing publicly withholding aid for a publicly accepted policy to a private request for a private gain is ignorant.

To the sentient, the fact that one request is on YouTube and the other can’t be uncovered, even with an impeachment trial, should set off alarms on just how different these two actions were. Also, if this video of Biden’s supposed corruption is so damning, why are people just now bringing it up? It’s been in the public for years.

So, either the person making this comparison is either ignorant or just being a troll.

Better?

Okay. Well, the actual facts are that (1) there was no ongoing prosecution or investigation into Burisma when Biden interjected himself on behalf of actual foreign policy (2) the investigation into Burisma that did occur was for events that took place from 2010 - 2012 (alleged improper grants from Ukraine’s Minister of the Ecology and (3) Hunter Biden didn’t join the company’s board until 2014. So the true parts of the video you posted are irrellevant and the false parts are total bullshit.

When idiotic shit like this gets distributed I find myself wondering if the person behind it is simply ignorant and misinformed and, worse, uninterested in digging around to determine if there’s any truth to what’s being claimed, or if they know perfectly well that it’s nonsense and are posting it simply to create more noise.

It was pretty interesting to watch that question get answered in this case.

Watching Dershowitz on TV answering questions. He’s an idiot in that he’s basically admitting that Trump did it, but at least he’s offering coherence. He’s unequivocally saying “it’s ok to have the President asking for a quid pro quo if the quo is for his political gain, just not his financial gain.”

That’s where we are as a country now: our public purse can now be used as campaign cash for every future President. They should go for a constitutional amendment to clearly state this new rule.

Yes, I’m sure Joe Biden had no interest in the $3,000,000 his son received from Ukraine.

Hey, D. Ward, why don’t you and Happy get a room. Take this shit to Facebook.

No thanks. The truth hurts sometimes.

You’re making up stuff, and I don’t know why I’m indulging your bad faith, but whatever money Hunter Biden received had fuck all to do with the removal of Shokin, which was the point of your original post.

Then I assume you’ll have no problem reviewing the facts.

You guys have your opinion and I have mine. I don’t consider myself a Democrat or Republican. I don’t necessarily want Trump to be the president next term. I just hope there is someone stronger than Biden that will be the nominee. Biden is a horrible candidate. Maybe Bloomberg will be a good one? We’ll see. Jim is right, this belongs on Facebook. It doesn’t belong on here. Nothing personal to anyone on here. This is a great place to come talk Astros baseball. We all enjoy Astros baseball so I believe I’ll stick to that.
