I fucked up my grid today being cute and not realizing that although he was traded from, Jesus Alou never played in a game for Montreal.
Big Rig in the center square! I always liked watching him pitch.
Bottom right today is literally any player who pitched in at least one MLB game and was born outside the US. Curious what crazy-ass pulls y’all can come up with for that one.
My humble entry, good for 0.006%, was:
Sammy Gervacio
I went with Dave Concepcion. Who was a whopping 0.03%
Tried to get tricky and went with Martin Maldonado and he was .1%
My initial guess was gonna be Julio Solano he checked in at .005%
I went with rather easy Christian Bethancourt. 0.10%
The 30 HR hitter/pitcher had a couple of obvious ones. Timely too, I guess.
Spoiler
Eschewing Ruth snd Ohtani, I went with Stan Musial, who had 0.0 innings pitched but one batter faced.
A few Astros as well.
Summary
Steve Finley, Josh Reddick, Bill Hall
Wow, I had no idea about your middle one. Any of them, really, but the middle one is most surprising to me, mostly because of the HR part.
I went with Reymin Guduan for the “born outside the US and pitched a game” spot and was denied. I wonder what the issue is.
I went with Sal Bando.
I went with Carlos Hernandez for .03
That’s a really weird glitch. Most of the time it won’t take a seemingly valid answer there’s some explanation, but I’ve tried a few times to see if I can get it to repeat with players with something in common with Guduan (e.g. maybe it’s excluding players with negative career WAR for some reason) but I’ve got nothing.
Today I learned that Bagwell made a single appearance in RF in ‘94, his only non-1B fielding appearance in his major league career. File that one away for when you need it.
