Only One Team is a tricky one. I really thought Nap Lajoie was always with Cleveland.
The ultra-safe move there is to pick a rookie or other club-control youngster. Kwan in Cleveland, for example.
I stared at the new categories today thinking “who the hell racked up 10 WAR pitching for Colorado??” before realizing it’s just pitcher wins, not WAR.
They threw us a bone today and gave us the easiest grid of all time. Just name a great player basically.
Easy to get players, still got a rarity score of 15, five of that was Ozzie Smith. Lowest was Cesar Cedeno at 0.02.
I got 11, 5 of which was Andruw Jones. Tony Fernandez in the southeast corner for .1.
Well fuck me.
Larry Doby did not have 2000 career hits.
I plugged in Tim Raines for 8/9 square. First time I found an error in game. I know he had 2000 hits and is in the HOF. The game said no bueno on pick however.
Ian Kinsler had 1999 hits.
Just tried it, worked for me. No chance you hit Tim Raines Jr. by mistake?
(0.4% for Raines btw, for scoring purposes)
Nope. And I went back to check that and it had his name in red with his son below. Weird.
I hated Will Clark as a kid, yet I really liked Will Clark as a kid.
I had enough of his rookie cards, that if he turned into a HOFer I would’ve been sitting a nice chunk of change.
Used baseball reference today to see just how low I could go with an all Astros grid. .55 Russ Springer was the highest at .2
That’s a rarity score of what…0.35?
3 x 3 teams only can be rough for me.
Especially if you throw in one of the Florida teams.
No kidding. I had a tough time today, and eventually had to resort to some baseball-reference assistance.
The brain is a remarkable and confounding thing. I’m going through today’s puzzle and come to the Washington-SF choice. Nothing jumps out at me, so I think “what about Montreal-SF?” And immediately, out of nowhere, the little voice says “Tim Foli”. I don’t think I’ve thought about that guy for years, if not decades. Why in the world would that little nugget still be in there?
John Boccabella.
