My best day yet came with a treat.
8/9
And dammit…I mixed up Charlie O’Brien and Pat Borders. Summbitch!
And I really missed an opportunity to use Tris Speaker. I’m guess the rarity score for that one was pretty low.
Nice.
Ted Williams was .7%
Nice!
So just for giggles…I did it again today, looking up players to try to find the most obscure I could find:
SUMMARY
IMMACULATE GRID 108
IMMACULATE!
RARITY SCORE

Who knew that General Crowder would be the answer to a trivia question today.
I went 8/9 I selected Jon Gray instead of Sonny Gray for A’s/Twins
I did the same on my second try … On my first (blind) try, old friend Wayne Terwilliger (0.005%) filled one spot and Tony Oliva (0.6%) got another. But who would have thought Mickey Mantle would come in at 0.9%? Jesse Barfield’s 0.9% also surprised me a bit and even Reggie Jackson and Carl Crawford only garnered 8% each.
After that 6/9 I looked up a few, finding Bill Singer, Miguel Cairo and Jim Mecir for a rarity score of 19.
Shooting for the rarity score is fun when you get teams that have been around a long time, and even more when they’ve relocated.
A’s and Twins? Let’s see…he played one game for the 1912 Washington Senators and three games for the 1916 Philadelphia A’s…
I at least try to use examples from my childhood rather than historical research, but either way works. A great time-killer!
Only one of us actually saw the 1912 Senators live.
Ahem. Who could you possibly mean?

Throw a rock down a dark alley, and only the dog you hit barks.
I miss the days when I was young.
Yeah boy. Hard to figure that one out,
8/9, which is darn good for me.
Nothing special in the rare score category. Ray Knight at 3% was the lowest.
Anyway I’m just trying to contribute and help the team win ballgames.
You forgot “God willing….”
I could have sworn Luis Gonzalez pulled a 30/30 season.
Ok, so you guys please help me out. Goal of this game is first to go 9 for 9 on correct matches…then to get the lowest percentage (rarity) that you can get on each one as a bonus?
