I hated him because he killed the Astros.

His swing was as pure as it gets. But he’s a dick.

I couldn’t even hate him for that.

I hated Kevin Mitchell more.

Everybody knows.

Palmetto was one of my ten incorrect guesses lol.

Fortunately I have a bit of knowledge of the St Louis Browns and their crazy history from a book I once read. George Sisler.

Clark and Palmeiro were teammates at Mississippi State and were both drafted in the first round in '85.

Bobby Thigpen and Jeff Brantley were on that '85 team as well.

Speaking of Clarks and jackasses, I once stood in line behind Jack Clark at the DMV office and listened to him berate a clerk because he didn’t know he needed to show a personal property tax receipt to get his tags – it’s a Missouri thing. I guess he thought he could bitch and moan his way around the law. The clerk was unyielding. Finally he gave up and walked away in a petulant huff.

So the Browns are now the Orioles?

From 1902 to 1953. George Sisler did not reach 3000 hits. I got cute a while back and passed on the obvious Murray and Ripken reaching for low rarity score and missed on Sisler.

I don’t think Murray gets the credit he deserves. He was a great baseball player.

He was well thought of enough to be a first ballot Hall of Famer.

Understood, which makes his current day lack of mentions more surprising. Maybe I’m over-sensitive because he’s one of my favorites.

He looked pretty pimp on his 70/80’s baseball cards from what I remember

He had the bushy sideburns merging with bushy mustache facial hairstyle and a cookie duster under his bottom lip.

Yes. Very much Jules from Pulp Fiction, but better

That man will swing with furious vengeance and great anger against those who attempt to sneak a fastball by him.
