Realmuto back to Philly for 5/$112.5M
Andrelton Simmons to the Twins on a 1 yr/$10.5MM deal. Good move on Minnesota’s part.
Marcus Semien reportedly going to the BJs… I’m starting to not like them.
I don’t follow salaries that closely, but that amount surprises me. I always thought of him as just a bit above average.
He finished 3rd in the MVP voting just one season ago. To get a player like that, essentially still in his prime on a one year deal is a pretty good get if you ask me.
Heck, I’m happy to get him out of the division.
Jays-Padres World Series
Semien is 4th in WAR among all shortstops over the last 3 years. For the past 2 years, FanGraphs has him 2nd but first is Bregman, somehow showing as a SS
Huh, so he was ahead of Carlos? I’m still surprised as my recollection is that he had some fielding issues years back, and I never viewed him as a key threat in their lineup. I should pay more attention.
ETA. After viewing BB Reference, looks like he had a great 2019, but all his other years weren’t very impressive.
Semien was indeed a liability defensively when he first came up but he really turned that around, although it was his E6 that turned around game 1 of the LDS last year.
So, off the wall question here. Is Kyle Tucker in center field a disaster scenario defensively? Reason I ask is that it appears Trey Mancini is available and he is only a little over a $4M cap hit. That’s a pretty damn good bat to stick in right field at an affordable price. He’d go a long way towards replacing Springer’s power. Just wondering…
Yes
That was quick!!!
Hahaha! Tucker is fine in left and manageable in right. But center is asking too much of him.
I kind of thought that as well, but I like Mancini. I think Luhnow checked on him a couple years ago. If he’s healthy, he can hit.
I agree he’d be a good bat to add to the lineup.
He can’t be any worse in center than Biggio or Berkman, can he?
He certainly can be. And Berkman wasn’t that bad in CF. Tucker is just not a centerfielder. It’s unfair to everyone to run him out there regularly.
Let’s never speak of this again.
Ok, but could Tucker learn to throw with his other hand?
