2 movies I really want to watch again, so I check quasi-monthly to see if they’re streaming anywhere: Sorcerer, and Serpent and the Rainbow

About hauling highly volatile old dynamite sweating nitroglycerin, in pieces of shit old trucks, on narrow muddy mountain roads during the rainy season, Sorcerer is as intense as a move could be. Also an awesome soundtrack.

My (late) friend and I were in a bowling league back in the early 80s and we spent a ton of quarters playing a pinball machine called Sorcerer. We were also fans of the movie.

ETA: also Krull, Dragonslayer, Beastmaster, Ladyhawke–any fantasy movie at the time. We saw the 1984 Dune movie in the theater about 15 times, no lie. By the end we had to go to matinee showings (we both worked nights) and often we were the only ones in the joint.

I mentioned this to my mom yesterday in passing, and she now wants to know your wife’s favorite Hallmark movies

You know, just in case she missed one.

Yes.

Krull & Beastmaster are brilliant

The Sword & The Sorcerer is one of the greatest movies ever made. I will take no more questions at this time.

Wages of fear is one of my very favorite movies. Watched the first 15 of sorcerer a long time ago and didnt connect with it, will give it another go since you think so highly of it. Never seen serpent and the rainbow—but i did read the non-fiction book that inspired the movie a few decades back when i found it in my high school library. Will check this movie out too.

My friend, there’s always room on the bandwagon for you.

1984 Dune (movie) - I love David Lynch.

And I love Krull, too.

One of our early dates was to see Yor, Hunter of the Future. It was magnificent, but I haven’t seen it since the 1983 release.

ETA: I suspect we may have been the only people to have actually seen You.

Anyone catch the new Star Wars show, skeleton crew? Reviews look solid.

If you enjoyed Goonies/ET, it’s definitely got a vibe you’ll enjoy.

Watched the 1st 2 episodes last night, so far it’s enjoyable.

So I watched a few more episodes of Landman. I’ll just say…if they don’t get a safety man out there, pronto, they’re not gonna have enough employees left to get through Season One.

Just keep repeating to yourself, “it’s only a TV show, the writers take artistic license, not a documentary.” But yeah, those sets are disaster magnets.
