General TV Thread

I need to watch season 5, which is allegedly streaming soon.

I just binged Severance over the last few days.

HOLY FUCKING SHIT what a wild, amazing ride.

I would watch John Turturro reading his mail and applaud at the end, but man, he really is just fantastic as a secondary character.

I was on the edge of my seat for the last ten minutes. So many great actors—Turturro is on his A game, and a couple of the lesser-knows really stood out too.

The weak link for me is the Patricia Arquette character, whose actions all season long made zero sense to me. Am I missing something there?

My bet/guess is that there’s more to that story/character than we know so far. But I agree, she’s a little but over the top crazy.

I have been watching “Killing Eve” on Hulu. The first time I became aware of Jodie Comer was when I saw her in “Free Guy”, not realizing that I had already seen her in “The Last Duel”. Her character in “Killing Eve” is completely crazy and her performance is incredible.

The whole show does a perfect job of tiptoeing along the line of being astonishing without being ludicrous. Season 1 was scripted by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, so it has true invention and edginess to it. I am half way through S2, with S3 being the end of what Hulu has currently. S4 is airing now on AMC.

"Winning Time" Isn’t Just Deliberately Dishonest, It’s Drearily Dull

I caved to Apple’s evil ploy of making me watch an Astros game on their platform and banking I’d be too lazy to stop the subscription after the free week.

Anyway, just finished both seasons of Ted Lasso. So freaking good. Writing/performances/filming.

I’ll probably watch them again.

And gonna start saying “Oi!” and “FUUUUCCCKKKK!” a lot. (well, a lot more)

Same as you, but watched it all a month or so ago.

Cannot wait until the next season.

Both my wife and I say “Oi!” all the time. It’s especially funny coming from a small, pretty middle-aged woman.

Try Severance before you cancel. It’s great.

And watch the Coen’s Macbeth.

Another vote for Severance and the Scottish play.

Season 1 of The Morning Show is really good too.

For All Mankind is fucking awesome.

I watched The Morning Show because she wanted to watch it.

I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. I felt the same way about HBO’s Big Little Lies.

eta: are there others that satisfy both? I’m down for suggestions. The Great is another off the top of my head.

The Great is the best thing I‘ve seen on TV since The Watchmen.

Speaking of “The Great”, The Death of Stalin is a fantastic movie.

That movie is always in my mental background when contemplating scenarios of Putin’s demise.

I’m trying to finish out Ozark but the tension each episode creates wears me out to the point that I’ve had to space my viewing out.

I got that way with Breaking Bad.
