The only Eddie Murphy skit that was better than that one was when John David Stutts killed Buckwheat.
This just in… Buckwheat is dead.
Oh no, I’ve been shot!
And so two famous people lie dead, Buckwheat and John David Stutts.
Eddie was only 19 years old when he started on SNL. He had such confidence and so much talent he couldn’t be stopped.
“John David Stutts, the man behind the gun. Brought to you by Texron.
I’ve been enjoying Upload on Amazon Prime. Interesting premise is that you can upload yourself to a cloud-based virtual reality, at a cost, when you die. The peeks into future-state technology and the human interactions with that tech are very good and well constructed. And, the characters are pretty rich.
I haven’t watched season 2 yet, but S1 was pretty entertaining.
Minor spoiler
The proposed “download” - where a dead person can be transferred back into a real body - being invented by Oscar Mayer Intel may have been my favorite bit of season 1.
I finally binge watched Ted Lasso last weekend. That is a good show.
Re: the spoiler, there are all kinds of easter eggs scattered throughout the show like that if you are paying attention. I’d guess they have an IT consultant or two whose primary purpose is to entertain people like you and me with those little nuggets.
How had I not heard this one yet?
Police examined Chris Rock’s face for evidence after the Oscars. They found fresh prints.
The penultimate episode of Severance set up the show for a spectacular finale on Friday. If you haven’t been watching (and have access to Apple TV+), I suggest you start now so you’re ready for when the finale drops on Friday.
The Jimmy Savile documentary dropped on Netflix. It’s a horrific story, as expected.
Spoiler
I didn’t expect to find out that the investigation had been bottom-drawered for a decade by the West Yorkshire Police. The same West Yorkshire Police whose gross negligence lead to the Hillsborough disaster where nearly 100 Liverpool fans died. The same West Yorkshire Police who blamed Liverpool fans for causing the deaths and covered up their own guilt for decades.
The same West Yorkshire Police who dropped every ball on catching the Yorkshire Ripper, allowing his killing spree to go on for years as the death toll climbed. The same Yorkshire Ripper who was befriended by Jimmy Savile while incarcerated. The same Yorkshire Ripper who committed his attacks at times and places that had a very strong correlation to times and places where Jimmy Savile happened to be.
Fuck I’m angry.
“Winning Time” is now 5 episodes in and is completely enthralling. It’s as entertaining as it is unsuitable for watching with kids or parents.
I’m loving it. John C. Reilly deserves an Emmy or something. Magic and Kareem are perfectly cast as well.
Also, Avon Barksdale as Spencer Haywood was a pleasant and hilarious surprise.
All the casting is really good, except possibly Pat Riley, but it is still “pre-transformation” Riley so that character is due for some big changes… When I moved the LA in '88 it was towards the end of the “Showtime” era, but I got to go the the Forum Club a couple of times and they were still the hottest sports ticket in town.
Poor old Adrien Brody’s nose needs a CGI treatment. That is a world class schnoz.
Anybody know when “Better Call Saul” is due to resume?
“The upcoming sixth and final season of the AMC television series Better Call Saul is set to premiere on April 18, 2022, in the United States, and will consist of 13 episodes.”
