General TV Thread

He has been a revelation. Sadly, we have him only on a one-year loan from Chelsea, who have already expressed their desire to have him back next year. He’s a lifelong Chelsea fan so, even if we could afford the transfer fee that rises with every game, he’d be unlikely to turn down Chelsea.

Kind of a Lidge/Pooholes moment. It was such a stunning event, that it sucks all the air out of what was otherwise a great performance. We ceded possession and territory after we had to remove Edouard and Milivojevic after 70 minutes (both have had limited game time lately and so will be lacking fitness), but the result was much more a product of failing to score more than 1 goal during our total dominance in the 1st half, and because Ayew missed an absolute fucking sitter, than it was of a scuffed kick out by our usually reliable goalie.

We’ll see where things stand at the end of the season. Brighton fans are notorious for celebrating before the fat lady has even entered the building, so they will love this right up to the moment that we go above them in the table,

Nevertheless, you do have to give credit to the Brighton fellow for a perfectly placed and perfectly weighted first-touch volley of that kick. When he struck that ball, even before the striker got to it, my immediate reaction was “Poor Limey!”. You could just see from everybody’s positioning that the goalkeeper was doomed.

Agreed. Well taken finish. However, it looked like Guéhi had a chance to deal with the through ball before it bounced and a couple of them had a chance to “deal with” Maupay before he got the finish away.

I guarantee you that a Chelsea/City/Liverpool/Utd defender takes the red card. Our two (new) centerbacks are both very talented and cultured…and far too nice. Some world class shithousery was required there, and the fans would’ve loved them for it.

Roy Kent in my spirit animal.

Selhurst Park is pretty special.

“Your eyebrows aren’t crazy. They’re psychotic.”

Writers, please give us the Roy Kent curbstomping of Nate we all want to see.

The song choice for the end titles was interesting.

Yeah it was. And then it was prominently (and creepily) used in this week’s Y: The Last Man.

I just got caught up with Only Murders in the Building on Hulu.

If you haven’t watched it yet, I cannot recommend it enough. Steve Martin, Martin Short, and surprisingly Selena Gomez all are absolutely excellent in it.

Heres my thing: Disney picks these kids out because they do have a good amount of talent.

If they haven’t ruined their life (Britney) or gotten stuck in their box (Miley), a good director can tap into that.

Justin Timberlake’s work on SNL is funny as shit. He missed his calling.

I said at the time that NBC should throw money at him for his own variety show until he said yes.

100 percent agree. Being a good child actor definitely doesn’t mean you’ll make it big as an adult, but plenty of those Disney young stars have gone on to do some great stuff.

Regardless, Only Murders has climbed pretty high on my Must Watch list.

Steve Martin’s career has been absolutely crazy. He’s so talented at some many things.

Amazing that this is his first TV show!

It’s high on my list to watch, but given that Ted Lasso still is on the to-be-seen list, I’m not sure when I’ll get to it. Hopefully I won’t have time to catch on TV shows until after November 3.

Annette! She was grossly underrated.

That Kurt Russell kid has done okay.

Season 2 finale is Friday, so you have some respite on that one. Be warned, although the episodes are ~30 mins (with the occasional extended episode in S2), it’s a straight through job once you get started.

Agreed on Only Murders in the Building. That’s been such a good show (that I started by mistake; thought I was clicking on Nine Perfect Strangers).

I decided to give Billions another shot since they just wrapped S5. It’s much easier to get through binging versus trying to watch week-to-week.

Ted Lasso sticks the landing on S2, and sets up villain for S3.
