General TV Thread

I thought it was… fine.

Fairly predictable on all fronts, I thought.

Basic plot building for Season 3, but really not a ton of fireworks/highlights.

And I didn’t get the headbutt I really wanted.

The promotion drama was just air-dropped in there, so that wasn’t really earned. But this was always going to be a season to set-up S3, so it was always going to feel a little unfinished compared to S1 that was designed to be a self-contained arc.

If you want to experience an earned promotion drama, you’ll just have to watch “When Eagles Dare” on Prime.

Why couldn’t S2 be both?

Given that the first season was a twist on the Major League story I’m disappointed that I have seen little to no love for the Roy/Jaime celebration after the final game - a clear callback to the Dorn/Vaughn punch-hug from the movie.

Trying not to spoil…

I’m interested to see how much of a villain they make out of the new West Ham manager.

I liked the season finale, probably because having read the general sense of it here (discounting Limey), I had pretty low expectations. I got to say, even after expecting it all season, Nate the Great could have been a James Bond villain when he turned and faced the camera. I also had a surprising (to me) interest in what’s going to happen to Trent Crimm of the Independent.

I was just glad it wasn’t Brighton. That would have been truly evil.

Seriously. After embracing Lewis Dunk and making him their club captain - with him having been acquitted of the gang rape of a teenaged girl because it was the word of the four of them against hers - another Brighton player was arrested last weekend for sexual assault.

Examples matter.

My guess is he’s going to take over Keeley’s job as the press liaison. Either that or he’s going to replace Roy as a TV pundit.

Not a huge hockey fan but I thoroughly enjoyed the documentary Untold: Crime & Penalties on Netflix. About a guy who owned a garbage business with mob ties (yes, shocker) who decides to buy a minor league hockey team and put his 17 year old son in charge of running it.

I’m into Squid Game. The first episode is completely over the top, but then it quickly settles into character-driven drama with lots of mystery, intrigue and suspense.

FYI, the dubbing is excellent such that very quickly you don’t even think about it.

The first two episodes are great for pacing. Gets you jacked up and getting to know the world and then swipes your adrenaline from you. But you can’t quit the game.

Ep 6 is gut punch, brilliantly done.

Ali is a fan favorite here and that actor is blowing up in popularity now.

Well I now know what will be the #1 Halloween costume this year.

It’s Karen.

The advantage of the Squid Game costume is that, the more people wearing the same thing, the better.

Conversely, if you see more than one Karen…RUN!

BTW, what’s the collective noun for multiple Karens? A manager of Karens?

Karenettes.

Took this last week. Have no idea where this dude was headed.
