General Movie Thread

Completely agree. Another technically flawless entry in the catalogue. Not life-changing, just fun. (Plus, like you said, Cera.)

My youngest (16) was suprised that anderson is still alive and making movies. He didnt know that rushmore was filmed in houston. Has not seen all of his movies, and didn’t know that bottle rocket existed. He was happy to hear that benicio del toro is the lead in the new movie (“he was the best part of the french dispatch”) and had no clue that anderson watched movies at river oaks theatre and helped to preserve it. We both agree that grand budapest hotel is incredible so there’s nothing to argue about, except that maybe i could laugh less often and not so loud at the movies; its embarrassing.
Not life changing, but the ending is beautiful.

Agree on all counts.

ETA: and kudos to you for raising a 16-year-old with excellent taste.

  1. How did you not know it was filmed at St Johns?
  2. Royal Tenenbaums is his best movie
  3. I’ll allow Grand Budapest Hotel swapped with 2
  4. Moonrise Kingdom was a sweet little movie
  5. Zissou is underrated

Life Aquatic is one of my all time favorite movies and one of Anderson’s best.

“Why are you putting that tape on your nose?”

“Exactly”

On one hand: shut up and take my money.

On the other hand: History of the World Part II

Also, isn’t Rick Moranis retired?

…and Oppenheimer

I don’t care if it sucks, good on him

No Daphe Zuniga?

Oh man, I had a huge thing for Daphne Zuniga in The Sure Thing.

Who didn’t?

Right?

So…no?

“Druish Space Laser” is the lowest hanging fruit in the history of low hanging fruit

“Live action animation Lion King”. Love it.

It’s a pet peeve of mine that they call the photo-realistic animated Lion King “live action”. At least the “live action” Jungle Book had a flesh and blood character in amongst all the CGI.

I really enjoyed the (first?) live action Jungle Book…the one with Walken, etc…

That was great to watch with the little cousins

According to Wikipedia, she was still actively working as of 2022.
