General Movie Thread

This was a more direct commentary than usual.

Should I have expected that, knowing The Sentry was involved? Sure.

I just want to know Mayor Fisk’s response to this…

How else can you really stop him?

I would love to find out Peter Parker was stuck in the void reliving Aunt May’s death.

Al Davis and John Madden…

I will watch that. I am not super into superhero movies. know absolutley nothing about the characters.

I AM into florence pugh. If only figuratively, alas.

I think this counts as a movie, circa 1530. It is magnificent, and you should go see it. These people are as alien as the predator in an Alien movie,

Sinners is the best movie about twin brothers fighting vampires and the kkk in 1930s mississippi ever made.

When you say predator…are you referring to the xenomorph with the acid blood, unpleasant reproductive cycle, and divergent origin stories in the “alien” franchise? Or, are you referrring to the predator from the predator franchise who is an alien and also sometimes appears with the xenomorph in the “alien” franchise? Or both…

The former, but the latter’s ok too.

If Guillermo Del Toro is involved, you have my attention.

Did not enjoy thunderbolts*. Lots of good elements that didn’t work for me. Love florence pugh, liked the theme (broken individuals uniting for common cause of public service), and the father/daughter conflict over shared but isolating grief are nicely done. But the overall plot was shit. And though the idea was interesting, the execution of the main advesary’s character was badly done and left me void of interest. The adversary makes or breaks a superhero story. If you are going to use “jung for dummies” to create a bad guy, maybe use more than the glossary in the back?

Super excited about the fantastic four…especially the oppotunity to eat way too much popcorn out of a galactus head popcorn bucket.

Downey as Dr. DOOM!!! no matter how bad the movie is i will marvel at downey’s novel performance playing a genius in an metal suit!

This could really be great. In my perfect world the monster would be Adam Driver—imo he was born to play the book version, just as del Toro was born to direct it. But that’s the smallest of quibbles. I’m excited.

I walked out of a movie this week for the first time in years. I thought “Friendship” was terrible. I do not get Tim Robinson’s appeal. A comedy with zero laughs.

Haven’t seen that movie, but I’ve seen enough of Tim Robinson to know that I’ve probably seen enough of him for me.

Just not my cup of tea.

Phoenician Scheme is fun and achieved something i haven’t experienced before in a movie–i enjoyed watching michael cera. Cinematic equivalent of making broccoli delicious. Well played Mr. Anderson.

Now I’m picturing what would’ve been quite a different version of The Matrix.
