I think the conversation we were supposed to have about this suprising confession is the career of val kilmerā¦not snake pliskin in all his many (manly) forms.
Valās wonderful weirdness made tombstone a great movie. He is our huckleberry.
he often made big hollywood movies that i might have ignored or hated interesting because of his performanceā¦
My favorite is kilmerās role in āheatāā¦there are two scenes in the movie where he thinks things are one way and then realizes they are anotherā¦the characterās immediate acceptance and response are searing.

To get this back on topic of Kilmer, and maybe merge the Music 2025 threadā¦National Record Store Day is next Saturday, April 12th. Among the releases will be the recently remastered version of the Top Secret! Soundtrack, which includes all of the songs performed by Kilmer, as well as the compositions by Maurice Jarre. Only 1,000 will be available nationwide.

Thereās an Inspector Morse where the plot is dreadful for a drama but Iāve always thought would work as a comedy, specifically as a Nice Guys sequel if they want to adapt it. IIRC theyāre hunting for a murderer who framed a Japanese guy as a drug-smuggling killer, except that the Japanese guy was actually a drug-smuggling killer, and he switched places with the man he was supposed to be impersonating and nobody could tell the differenceā¦ anyway you can see why this fails as a drama but has great comic potential.

Going back to the subject of Australian movies, two that need to be seen more often are The Castle and Dirty Deeds.
Havent seen or heard of dirty deedsā¦its now high on the list. I LOVE the castle and watch it often.
It sounds like a great movieā¦just be sure youāre watching the Aussie one and not the teen comedy US one.

The Life Aquatic is one of my all time favorites movies, and Iām a big Wes Anderson fan (The Darjeeling Limited withstanding).

Seu Jorge doesnāt play in the US and A very often but the next time he does you need to stop what youāre doing, turn the plane around and make absolutely certain that you go see him, wherever he is. My strong recommendation is that you see him several times. That goes for all of you idiots.

One of my buddies here in Austin saw him in Brazil back when he was doing study abroad while at UT.
He raved about him.
Excellent recommendation, though so many of the mouth-breathers I fly with would not want me to turn the plane around on account of wanting to see a āfurinerā/someone who doesnāt talk American.
