Of course we do, because it’s not good enough to simply enjoy an onscreen character at face value. We have to be subjected to a full deconstruction of the character through an origin story that retcons a bunch of uninteresting shit into an otherwise interesting character.
The first Godfather came on the other night, so we watched it again. That thing is riddled with Coppola family cameos. Apparently Sofia is the baby in the baptism scene.
She’s a major character in the 3rd installment.
Godfather III never happened.
I’ve read Chapterhouse: Dune. Twice.
As a sequel generally thought of as non-existent, I would put it above any ‘mob’ movie in the last ten years.
Were you being punished, or is it worth reading? Are any of the others worth reading?
Fair.
I sure can’t think of one. Was The Irishman any good?
The absolute worst movie in genre EVER. Kill the Irishman was close though, as in better than GF3.
I liked The Irishman, but that may be just me. I had never heard of the guy or of his connection to Hoffa.
The worst part about Godfather III was not Sofia Coppola’s acting, which was bad enough, but the fact that Al Pacino played a Bill Hader on SNL impression of himself. Horrible. Just horrible.
It’s on my list. The Void is usually when I get caught up on movies and tv shows.
So it was the same as every other Pacino role since Scent of a Woman.
Well at least it didn’t have Nick Cage in it.
Speaking of…this is bullshit, and I like Gyllenhaal
also - which was the more egregious Oscar that was really a lifetime achievement award? Pacino for Scent or Scorsese for Departed?
I’ll nominate John Wayne for True Grit in 1970.

I’ll nominate John Wayne for True Grit in 1970.
I remember that everybody knew it at the time. The Academy thought that True Grit was Duke’s last plausible chance at an Oscar, so they gave it to him. Hell, I thought Glen Campbell carried that movie.
Glenn Close is patiently waiting
and I was never able to finish Scent of a Woman, just could not handle Pacino
