Are you looking at worldwide sales? I think Tesla used to sell a butt-load in China.
Tesla’s original strategy was to drive acceptance and subsidize the development of EVs with upmarket, higher cost cars, then subsequently mass produce more affordable cars. Looks like Elon has pivoted away from the lower cost car market, possibly because he is concerned about the Chinese competition, or more likely because he wants to play in the AI space with his tech bros in Silicon Valley.
The shut down and possible sell off of the charging network is probably to hoard cash for AI. That apparently is what is behind a lot of the big tech layoffs around here (SF Bay area).
I think in his latest Musksplaining to investors said that people who look at Tesla as a car company have it wrong. It’s an AI company.

The meeting could not have gone worse. Musk, the employees said, was not pleased with Tinucci’s presentation and wanted more layoffs. When she balked, saying deeper cuts would undermine charging-business fundamentals, he responded by firing her and her entire 500-member team.
Don’t forget, this is coming on the back of the entire US EV industry - from vehicles to chargers - agreeing to switch to the Tesla-style NACS charge port.
We must be nearing the point where rational people simply stop doing business with Musk because of the inherent risk, right? I don’t imagine that anyone who depends on SpaceX sleeps very well.

The Chevy Equinox EV has hit the review circuit. Seems decent enough, but the pricing of “under $35k” is a bit of a sham. In reality, it’s a $45k electric SUV, but that is lowering the bar a little. It has better range and a lower price than its immediate competitors.
Also, no CarPlay / Android Auto.
Elon has announced that Xitter will allow porn on its feed. I guess it’s really going to live up to the “X” branding now. I’m sure that advertisers will come flooding back.
He is going to make a mountain of $$ with that move.
