COVID-19

This should be every Biden campaign ad for the next 3 1/2 months.

Like I said, just start calling it the Trump virus.

FWIW the 5th circuit stayed his order over the weekend.

I hope it made Lynn Hughes really angry.

He’s used to it.

Today is looking ominous. With less than half the expected cases reported, about 26,000, there are already more than 500 fatalities.

The lagging indicator may be lagging no more.

Florida…

Houston…

The fact that we have such limited testing capacity, 6 months into this, is an epic fail. National average on getting tests results is now 5-7 days. This is crushing, for those who have jobs that cant work from home, even more so for those who don’t get paid sick leave.

Until we have either a vaccine, or have the testing capacity/bandwidth, to give near unlimited tests, with same day or ~24 hour results, we are stuck in the mud. Partial opening, is the absolute best case, and a further wrecked economy. I don’t see how you start up high schools or colleges without much better testing options.

At ~7 days to get a test returned, if 1 kid shows up at high school with COVID, everyone in all his 7 classes, AND all 7 teachers, go in quarantine for a week. So who is filling in for those teachers? You are gonna need an army of substitutes.

If they all get tested and cleared in a day, that is much easier to manage, and essentially makes opening school a possibility. Without it, I just cant see high schools, especially big 5A schools making it more than 2 weeks without going all on-line. Well, I guess the Trump Plague, could just disappear

Only want to point out colleges are very different When it comes to opening, auxiliary services are hit really hard. Hopefully a mix of classes work out.

My company’s headquarters here in Seoul had to shut down for a day while they tested an employee but it was only one day so yes it is possible if you want to do it.

How is the economy there, Matt. We hear conflicting stories.

Texas new case counts are starting to drop, but the new death counts are climbing. Looking at these charts, the start of the case spike is 3 weeks ahead of the start of the death spike, so that suggests we have at least a week to go before the new death counts start to drop.

The national chart has a similar look to it, with similar timing. The next week is going to be brutal.

Fucking hell. Disgusting.

Sinclair is the Fox News for the rubes who don’t have cable. They are, perhaps, more insidious because they blend their propaganda into their regular broadcast news, not as cable “opinion” shows like Fox.

This guy deserves a big banner:

He is currently working as an orderly in a hospital in Canada, caring for COVID patients. He says he wants to continue doing that, instead of risking spreading the disease by playing.

FTR, he wasn’t negative about the NFL’s procedures and safeguards; he said he’s sure that they will do everything they can to protect everyone involved.

Agreed. It’s further proof that America has gone to hell in a hand basket.

Kudos to Laurent for seeing the bigger picture and realizing the value of helping others during this crisis. He has a good heart and a good head on his shoulders.

Can you remind me of the “Bingo” post? It was amazing and I wish I had a link to it.
