I see that the Abbott order has a few exceptions. The notable ones were if you were in church and if you were voting. So, the necks who refuse to wear masks (mostly Republicans) will be allowed to vote and discourage others who care about safety.
There is no way this exception was not written specIfically so that the idiots who refuse to wear masks will still be able to vote for Republicans.

This is actually not unusual. The Bubonic Plague didn’t disappear off the face of the earth, it just eventually died down in the middle ages. It’s still out there, just treatable now. About the only major disease that has been wiped out is smallpox.
Bubonic plague is a risk in New Mexico as I recall.
Please don’t tempt fate. 2020 just might bring it back.

There exist two remaining colonies of smallpox for research purposes. One is housed at the CDC in Atlanta, the other at the Russian equivalent. There has been much debate on whether or not to go ahead and destroy those colonies and completely wipe the virus from the face of the earth, which intensified a few years ago when there was a fire at the Russian facility and fears that it possibly leaked.

The other thing about smallpox is that like most other viruses it can be synthesized in a lab, and it’s not particularly difficult or expensive to do so. It’s said that pretty anyone could create it for about $100,000.

Denton County Sheriff said he won’t enforce the mask order. They’ve got better things to do. The constitution trumps the governor. Freedom! etc.
Collin County Sheriff issued a blanket decree that he approves all outdoor gatherings of 10 or more people to be “masks optional.”
The locals have been learning their lessons from their party leaders in Austin too well.

At this point, I wonder if Sheriffs like that do it because of the idiots in Austin or the White House, or because the idiots who elect them in the primary. It’s a corollary of “Is the base is a reflection of Trump or Trump is a reflection of the base?”
As I type this post, I get the emergency alert over the phone on the new law, the one that will be ignored by those Sheriffs.
Should make for good fodder for their opponents when they try to run on their “law and order” bona fides.

Interesting that county sheriffs consider themselves to be constitutional scholars. Those two just flunked Con Law.
