Pence did a ridiculous fake media bit yesterday where he delivered empty boxes to a nursing home - sans gloves or mask. I don’t care about him - if he’s going to be cavalier with the virus for the cameras then that’s his call - but the nursing home is chock full of at-risk patients and he knew that he had been around a confirmed case just the day before. That is unconcionable. Fuck him.
Moreover, given how lax they are about it, I’m shocked that the White House hasn’t been a virus hot spot long before now. DC, meanwhile, is now 5th in cases/million, behind only New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut. Worse than states like Louisiana, Michigan and Florida. And White House staff walk around mask-less because that’s how King Don prefers it.

She is also married to another top White House aide and senior adviser, Stephen Miller, who writes the majority of Trump’s speeches and spends copious amounts of time around the president, Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump.
Katie Miller’s positive diagnosis raises the risk that, through both her and her husband’s daily work, a large swath of the West Wing’s senior aides may also have been exposed to the novel coronavirus. She did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

CNN is reporting that Katie Miller was traveling with Pence’s entourage yesterday, and had tested negative yesterday. She tested positive this morning.

BTW, this is a HIPAA violation. The press had been holding back on naming Miller until she decided to, or not to, make the news public. Then Trump just vomits up them name during this word salad.
It’s far worse. The only way out of this for a country like the US is a vaccine or massive test and trace. People decide to inject bleach or stick a UV device up their ass? Darwinism in action. The president of the United States denigrates the very idea of testing? What do you think is the inevitable outcome of the administration’s actions?
There will be no end to the crisis in the US. Hundreds of thousands of deaths, a totally paralyzed economy, the US will be the only major country that does not have a handle on the pandemic so it will become even more of a global pariah than it already is.
It is absolutely mind boggling to me that instead of facing this people are arguing with rednecks over whether they should wear masks to the lumber yard.
