It would run as smoothly and cost effectively as healthcare.
Have I got some news for you!
Vaxapalooza continues with me getting my 2nd COVID booster yesterday (Pfizer all the way). A little soreness in the injection arm today, but thatās all. Fuck you, shingles vaccine.
I completed the Texas CARES antibody study earlier this month. Hereās how my numbers went:
September, 7 months after 2nd shot: ~1200
December, 10 months after 2nd shot: ~700
April, 4 months after booster: 2500+ (off-scale high)
Negative for infection antibodies all three times, which confirms that I did not get COVID when it hit everyone else in my household in December/January.
How were your 5G and magnetism numbers?
Asking for my āI did my own researchā friends.
I was listening to NPR this morning and they had some psychosocial analyst that specializes in pandemics talking about the human psychology that created many of the pandemic outcomes recently. The host at the end asked this question: so are you saying if there is another pandemic in five years that you expect it will go as badly as this last one? The analyst replied flatly, āyes, that is precisely what I am sayingā.
For some morbid reason, it made me laugh out loud.
Actually, I canāt imagine the next pandemic will go as smoothly as this one. People are idiots.
I just read a headline which said Republicans are favored to take back the House in 2022. Actually, that is pretty normal for mid-term elections in our history for the party out of power, but in these times, fasten your seat belts.
Also, if the Republicans take back the Senate, or it remains 50/50, Joe Manchin has indicated heās switching parties or at least going independent and caucusing with the GOP. The next few years are going to be a mess.
On Pod Save America they mentioned that people in Washington are saying Manchin is going to run for president in 2024.
The guy is delusional.
I hope he does. For reasons other than his.
Manchin will get a heavy dose of reality if he runs for president. I will be worth him doing it for that reason alone.
The worst thing that could happen to Manchin is Democrats increasing their Senate majority to 52. Heāll be instantly irrelevant and I will be one in a very long line of people to tell him to go fuck himself.
He and Synema seem to relish being DINOs.
If he raises issues important to WV (and rural America) like healthcare, energy shift, income disparity, job displacement/training, opioids, infrastructure, etcā¦Iām all for his voice in the discussion.
I guess that means heās running as a Democrat?
Right. Currently, Manchin is essentially our Prime Minister, but with two other votes in the Senate, he and Sinema become unnecessary to pass a reconciliation bill and/or filibuster reform that would make them irrelevant on everything.
Rather than raise these issues in a national discussion he could, oh, I donāt know, vote and pass bills that address these very things right this very second.
Totally aware of this, I was thinking best case of a Presidential run
And āifā is an operative word in my earlier post.
Manchin I understand. He has to be a DINO to win in WV.
Sinema makes no sense. Kelly is much more left in the same state and he won easily.
Interestingly, they both won by roughly the same margin, but Kelly did it in a year that was far more unfavorable for Democrats (2020) than Synema (2018). ETA: the latter is easily the most feckless senator, aside from perhaps Susan Collins.
China is beginning to lock down Beijing. They, and by extension, most everyone else, are fucked.
The problem seems to be a mix of success and failure: the early lockdowns were so effective at preventing infection that the country has very low natural immunity. This, along with the abject failure of their vaccine, which gives only minimal protection against mortality from the original virus. Against the current Omicron strains, it is useless. The current strains are much more infectious than Covid Classic, but at least as pathogenic to naĆÆve hosts.
If they let it run wild, they will be digging mass graves. Donāt expect supply chains to improve anytime this year, or ever.
