It is election year after all.
No, he’s just setting it up so he can blame Biden if there is any fallout over an Omicron wave.
Everything will be ok once Dr. Oz is in the Senate.
I read on another site that Biden ought to make Abbot come to Washington and have a press conference together on this, just so everyone is clear who asked who for help.
Remember when Rick Perry talked so much shit about seceding, and then the wildfires came and he started demanding federal assistance from Obama?
All Republicans do it: federal relief for me but not for thee. Rand Paul being the latest uber-hypocrite for - after voting against federal funds for everything from Sandy to Harvey - lobbying for federal disaster funds following last December’s devastating tornadoes.
How has this not already happened?
The virus had to mutate enough to be able to infect non-humans.
Does he have grandchildren and if so is he going to follow his instructions to grandparents regarding covid?
This remains a thing in 2022:
Yes, Omicron has a much lower hospitalization rate than prior variants, but if everybody has it, the hospitals are still going to fill up.
The Omicron variant may be the most transmissive virus in human history. It seems to have passed measles. If the Omicron variant were as pathogenic as SARS I, we would have a medieval situation.
We’ve “lucked out”, so far…
Talking to a pathologist friend, he said he’s never seen anything like it except for the occasional cold virus they see once per decade or so. All the rules about covid transmission and transmission mitigation are out the window. He said they are seeing high rates of transmission from incidental, transitory, non-close contact by two people wearing masks. Like walking by each other on the street types of incidental and transitory.
Thank God that most of the infections are resulting in mild symptoms.
So how were they able to trace that back to determine that’s how transmission occurred?
He said the state-level exposure notification apps are really useful there. Although, they are losing effectiveness since there are so many infections in the wild now that there are multiple infection intersections per day for many. He’s a researcher and gets access to randomized state data and says the intersections look like “a massive spiderweb”. I don’t know if Texas has that turned on (or even if you are in Texas) but many states do have it turned on and your phone will alert and ask you to opt in if you are there for more than a few hours.
Edited to add: he also said when they do traditional contact tracing, most can no longer point to one person that they “suspect” anymore and, when they look at the contact data in aggregate and parse out all the multi-contact people, leaving only incidental contact people left to analyze, the story starts to emerge.
Interesting. Thanks
So this is a thing…
And now for some reason I’ve got The Knack tune running thru my head replaced with My Flurona lyrics. Damn you Weird Al.
A parent just emailed me threatening legal action for enforcing a mask mandate yesterday and “publicly sham[ing]” her son.
