You know, Weird Al is a weird dude, and not everyone’s taste in music, but is there a more decent human being in the music world?

Bring her on.
Look, if you have an issue with mask mandates, I have a disagreement with you, but that can be discussed rationally.
If you’re threatening a teacher or school administrator over it, you have no place in society.

Not only is he a decent human, he’s an absolute saint.
The guy has been making music for over 4 decades, hasn’t aged in 30 years, and has outlasted just about every artist he’s parodied all while being an absolutely excellent all around nice guy.
Excerpts from emails today:
7:44am: “It remains 100% illegal to enforce an illegal mandate.”
10:06am: “THANK YOU… We were very hesitant to send our children to school… XXX said that everyone was masked and that you said in no uncertain terms that you would not put up with any mask nonsense… I am so happy to hear that the teachers are demanding the masks to be worn.”
10:37am: “Seating charts needed.”
The last one is from admin. It means Covid was definitely in this room yesterday.
God Bless you. My sister is looking for a new job. She wants nothing to do with teaching anymore.
Is that MTG??

Just like the Jan 6 pipe bomber…
I started feeling a little sick on NYE, but it felt like the usual allergies/cold/sinus infection I get without fail around the beginning of the year. I self isolated for the week and just to be safe decided I should probably get tested. I haven’t felt super sick at all, but I didn’t want to be part of the spread/problem. Got tested on Wednesday morning.
PCR test results came in last night, I’m positive.
Damn, hope you feel better soon.
We have three friends who tested positive in the last couple of days. Everyone was vaccinated and their cases are relatively mild, so that’s good news. Kara and I fortunately tested negative yesterday (antigen and PCR). But it’s a good reminder that this fucker is coming for everyone.
This thing seems to be contagious enough that even conscientious people can pick it up. I hope your symptoms remain mild.

At this point I’m just slightly snotty, and I haven’t felt “sick” at all for a few days.
I’m just trying to be a good friend/citizen and not spread the shit any more.
…and if anyone is wondering, Mark is as conservative and safe about the virus as I and my close friends are. I trust his judgment and smart decisions completely. He was here for about an hour Sunday, and if I am positive when I get tested Tuesday, I will not be shocked. I am isolating now after I read his news this morning.
Want to come to my party?? I had a fever last Thursday and now “allergies.” Took the test Monday got positive results on Wednesday. I haven’t seen anyone in person for over a week.
I had an eye doctor appointment this morning, and they’re kind of hard to get, so I kept it. Everybody was masked, but there was a woman in there with a cough, so at this point I’m assuming I’ve been exposed.
Omicron is so contagious that it’s overwhelming even tracking and tracing apps (those are very useful tools being used but which are banned in Texas). People are reporting positive tests only for the system to return multiple contacts with others who have also tested positive, so the reporting load increases exponentially.
I saw a quote from an epidemiologist who said (paraphrasing) that they have no idea how truly transmissible it is; for all they know, it can jump between two mask-wearing people who pass each other in the street.
I was around family, knowing I was taking that risk, one person ended up being positive, then others in their family (3 out of 4) but no one else that was around Christmas Eve seemed to get sick. I got back to Houston on Tuesday afternoon, felt fine, but went to sleep early Wednesday then ran a high fever on Thursday. That’s when I knew something was wrong/different. Earliest I could get tested was Monday at UH but I did test with my vaccine trial. I haven’t seen anyone in person since that Monday. It was hard to schedule a test and the results took quit a while to come back. That is not helping the spread.
My wife had it but the kids and I haven’t gotten it… yet.
