COVID-19

Judge Hidalgo just announced that we all have to wear masks in public as of next Monday.

Wisconsin seeing a spike in election-related cases.

True, I don’t think any COVID deaths are anything to brag about.

i’ve been keeping my eye on India Indonesia and Florida hoping that heat and humidity surpresses transmission of the virus with the hope that summer will help us out, not sure I’m convinced either way.

I think a big problem we have now is the idea that hospitals are unsafe and people aren’t going there for non-COVID treatment. I had to deal with a family member yesterday and it was a lot of work to get them to go (everything is fine, they are back home), so it’s important to let people know that the hospital situation is under control and they are taking every precaution they can.

I wonder how many businesses the virus has killed?

nothing about the number of homeless in Austin and the virus. last I saw Austin had rented several hotels to home the homeless with the virus then nothing

Corporations are people, my friend.

Reports out of NY are that 88% of COVID-19 patients who were intubated…died.

Wear a fucking mask, people.

Some woman on a local social media site was complaining about being pressured to wear a mask. ā€œIt’s your choice to wear a mask or not. If you think people should have to wear a mask, well, that says something about you, doesn’t it?ā€.

Unfortunately, they don’t only kill their own, they also kill good people.

That’s my problem. If only them not wearing a mask would be the ones to get sick.

The mask is protecting other people, not the wearer. Non-mask wearers should be shamed publicly and loudly.

It does protect the wearer, even if it’s a cut up tshirt, since it prevents some hand to mouth/nose transmission.

Yes, there is a minor increase in protection for the wearer, most because of how it makes touching one’s face harder, but also because it’s a reminder not to touch one’s face and also to social distance.

This graphic sums up the concept nicely (I have no idea how accurate it is):

You know what I meant. Why can’t the whiner get sick instead of those doing what they can to prevent the spread? Because that’s not the way the world works. Someone people get the advantages/benefits of others doing what they are supposed and others pay the price.

Living in the communist stronghold of Austin, I didn’t realize the Harris County Judge enacted a mask wearing order and is being sued by some prick doctor. I also see that the usual political subjects (Patrick, Crenshaw and Paxson) see this as attack on THEIR liberties. Fuck their neighbors, they say, they want to live free. It’s hilarious what triggers those idiots. They probably want to protect their right to drive drunk also.

Any first year law student knows personal liberties yield to public health and safety measures. Amazingly no Republican now speaking during this public health crisis has any apparent knowledge of that settled principle.

Their body, their choice.

Amazing that none of them showed up at Alex Jones’s Flu Klux Klan rally.

They want all the rights but none of the responsibilities.
