While the media somehow debates whether the President actually suggested that injecting disinfectant into your lungs may be a cure for COVID-19 (he absolutely did), the US passed 900,000 cases and 50,000 deaths.
Trump wants to be thought of as a war-time President. Well, he’s closing in on the total death toll from 21 years of combat in Vietnam (58,220). He should be there pretty soon, as we are losing more than 1/2 an Iraq & Afghanistan, or 2/3rds a 9/11, every day.
In completely unexpected news Arizona - which has been the venue for numerous anti-mitigation protests over recent days - has seen a spike in cases and deaths.
Trump did so much damage to our infrastructure that is hurting us now - not least of which was a $1.7 trillion tax cut that went almost exclusively to the already-wealthy - but he made some choices that have a clear and direct impact, including:
Cutting funding to the CDC
Closing the group in DHS dedicated to preparing for pandemics
Removing the CDC’s Chinese imbeds (so we had no independent intel on what was happening in Wuhan)
Then there’s the whole ignoring the the intel briefings he received - going all the way back to November last year - and pretending this was nothing and would all go away by itself deep into March which, as the death toll numbers show, was already far too late. Also, what has he done since? Really…what?
A rusty mail box would’ve done a better job. A functioning civil servant like Clinton would’ve still got things wrong but done infinitely better.
